A photograph of a single man in a white short-sleeved shirt and lavender trousers bending over a large pile of reddish-brown earth and rubble on a dirt ground. He is sorting or picking through scattered pale grey and tan stones and rocks, some broken slabs lying on the ground. A red brick wall with climbing green vines and a chain-link fence stand behind the pile, with trees beyond. The scene looks like a construction or site-clearing work area. No ritual, discourse or person identifiable as a person is visible.2016-08-27August 27 20162016-08-27August 27 20162016-08-27August 27 20162016-08-27A bare-footed man in a grey short-sleeved shirt and red, white and green striped lungi, with a blue and white checked cloth tied around his head, bends over a shallow excavation. He is working among cut grey stone slabs and blocks laid in a trench with earth walls, beside a raised mound of reddish soil. Seven men work in the pit and along its edges: some bend and dig with hand tools and shovels, one swings a pickaxe-like tool, and others in striped, checked and green shirts and dhotis or trousers stand watching. Several wear colourful checked or striped headcloths. Above the pit, the tops of two people in orange saffron robes and one in white are partly visible at the frame's upper edge. The ground around the pit is bare dirt with scattered stone and rubble.2006-10-25A man in a white shirt and dark jeans leans forward and tips a red plastic bucket of reddish-brown earth onto a large mound of soil in the foreground. Around him, several people in pink, black and orange clothing stand and move among the trees. Behind them a large tree with spreading branches and a chain hangs from a limb. One man in a pink shirt stands near the bucket, and a person in blue kneels at the lower right corner. The scene looks like an outdoor work or ritual activity beneath the trees.2016-09-11A photograph of a worker digging into a raw earth embankment at a construction site. A man in a blue striped long-sleeved shirt, green trousers and a pink-and-white checked head cloth wrap stands with his back partly turned, swinging a metal spade with a wooden handle into the reddish-brown soil. Loose grey gravel, rocks and dry straw or grass lie in the excavated cut, and the bank rises behind him. The scene shows manual earthwork in progress.2009-10-15December 12 20062006-12-12 +1 copiesSeptember 23 20142014-09-23
