A man in orange robes sits cross-legged on a carved wooden seat, hands pressed together in prayer, eyes closed, beside a rural paddy field. He wears a beaded necklace, bangles and a gold chain. In front of him stands a low platform of white bricks holding a small heap of burnt ash, two brass oil lamps and a steel vessel, and a plate with offerings. Behind them a gilt-framed portrait of a smiling man in saffron robes with a white beaded mala, raised hand and seated pose is garlanded with red, yellow and white flower strings and a red-and-white crystal stands at its base. The portrait is a depiction, not a physical person. Green crops and trees fill the background under a pale blue sky.2009-01-21January 21 20092009-01-21A woman in an orange sari-style garment sits cross-legged on a concrete platform in an open rice field, tending a small fire of stacked white bricks with a pinch of offering in her hand. Beside her, a wooden peetha-style seat with carved edges stands against brass lamps and a tray of offerings. To the right, a large gilt-framed portrait of a smiling man in orange robes and a white bead mala is garlanded with red, yellow and white flowers, flanked by a red-and-blue kalasha-like vessel. Green paddy and palm trees stretch behind.2009-01-21A photograph of a homa or yagna ritual indoors. A priest in orange robes and an orange head wrap sits cross-legged on the floor at left, holding a brass ladle over a lit flame in a brass vessel. A tiered white platform in front is decorated with yellow and red flower garlands, and small logs of wood are stacked beside it. Behind, a framed portrait of a young man with long dark hair wearing orange robes, a rudraksha mala and ceremonial necklaces is garlanded with white and yellow flowers. The portrait sits on a green cloth with a deity murti in front, and brass lamps line the platform.2007-09-30A seated devotee in saffron-orange robes with a rudraksha mala and bangles performs a small ritual outdoors on a concrete platform beside a green paddy field. Before him stands a framed portrait garlanded with yellow and red marigolds and a white flower garland, showing a man in orange robes with a white beaded necklace. Brass oil lamps, a plate of offerings, and a row of white bricks lie in front, with incense smoke rising. The scene reads as a roadside puja during a ratha procession.2009-01-21A seated priest in an orange-saffron dhoti and shawl sits cross-legged on a peach cloth before a fire-pit homa, with palms pressed together in prayer. He wears a beaded necklace and is bare-chested. Behind him a red velvet-cushioned golden chair holds a framed portrait of a man with long dark hair and an orange garment, garlanded with white flowers, marigolds and red blooms. Brass plates hold fruit, bundled sticks, a kalasha-style vessel, lamps and offerings; a flame burns at the fire-pit. Floral garlands decorate the shrine and the yellow-and-red banana-leaf setting.2013-01-01January 1st 2013A seated priest in orange ochre robes performs a homa at a flower-decorated altar on a white-tiled platform. He holds a metal ladle over a brass vessel near a stack of wooden sticks and a microphone stand. Behind the altar, a framed photograph shows a young man with long dark hair in orange robes, showing a raised hand, wearing garlands and a rudraksha-style necklace, set in a lush green-draped frame with yellow and red marigold garlands. Brass oil lamps, a kalasha, pineapples, fruit and marigold garlands surround the fire ritual. A tall bamboo pole with an orange cloth hangs on the left.2007-09-30A photograph of a ritual puja at a temple altar. A priest in orange robes and a beaded necklace sits on the left, bent over offerings, with a brass bowl, bananas, apples, pineapple and other fruit arranged before him. In the centre a small deity murti draped in red and orange cloth and garlanded with red flowers sits on a platform, while a flame burns in a fire pit of stacked sugar-coated sweets for a homa. Behind them a large red velvet throne with gold carved legs holds a framed portrait of a man in orange robes with long hair, wearing a garland of white and marigold flowers and a beaded mala; the portrait is labelled as a printed picture rather than a person in the scene. Red and orange floral garlands and a banana-leaf plant decorate the setting, with carved stone pillars behind.2013-01-01A photograph of a homa fire ritual outdoors beside a large tree. A figure with long swept-back dark hair and a forehead tilak wears an orange saffron robe and sits on a low wooden stool before a square fire pit built from white-painted bricks. Tall orange flames rise from the pit, which is decorated with marigold petals. Brass bowls, a small brass lamp, a pink flower and a silver tray with offerings sit near the pit, and a microphone stands in front of the figure. Swamiji (probable): the figure has long swept-back hair, a tilak and orange saffron robe, cues consistent with the page's claim of Swamiji conducting the Sri Vidhya homa.2006-09-21Outdoors on open grassland with a red-earth patch, a woman in an orange saffron sari-style garment and a long gold-coloured necklace stands holding a small white object near a cremation or fire site. Beside her, a man in a light white short-sleeved shirt and grey trousers, with glasses, pours liquid from a brass pot onto the ground near a bed of grey ash and burnt material ringed with bricks. Scattered yellow flowers lie on the ground, a motorbike is parked at left, and trees and low hills lie in the background under a hazy sky.2005-11-14November 14 20052005-11-14
