September 30 20162016-09-30A photograph of a ritual scene indoors. A bare-chested man with long dreadlocked hair and a full beard, wearing an orange-saffron cloth draped over his body and a brown shawl, sits on a red cushioned seat in front of an ornate gold throne-back with a gold embossed canopy above. He reaches down with his hand to receive a handful of yellow flowers or turmeric-coloured offering from an older bearded man in a white shirt who kneels beside him. Behind them a woman in a white sari with an orange blouse and a long rudraksha mala stands watching, and a bowl of the same yellow offering sits in the foreground. Two or three other people are partly visible at the edges wearing white and light clothing. The seated man is presented in a ritual setting, and his identity is not established by the visible cues alone.2016-09-30May 08 20172017-05-08May 08 20172017-05-08 +1 copiesA photograph of a ritual in a richly decorated hall. A man seated on an ornate gilded throne with a red cushion wears a saffron-orange garment, a long beaded gold-toned necklace and a red-and-gold patterned cloth, and smiles while holding a cloth or leaf-like item. Lit oil lamps with red flowers stand on either side. A kneeling attendant in a white shirt leans in at the foot of the throne, and an older priest in white dhoti with red-and-gold shawl, bare-headed, holds a small bottle near a silver bowl on a tray. Pale ritual items and a white dish sit on a table. The scene suggests a puja or abhishekam-style ceremony.2015-07-15A photograph of a seated figure on a golden-armed throne with a deep red turban and red-brown saffron robe, rudraksha mala necklaces and a bracelet, smiling broadly. Before him a woman in a white and gold-bordered sari with a red flower garland kneels and speaks, while a man in white dhoti with gold border, bare chest, sacred thread and rudraksha mala stands beside them smiling. Behind the throne are large garlands of yellow marigolds and red flowers, a golden lion-head armrest, a brass oil lamp and a golden deity murti. Several other men in white stand in the background.2015-07-31May 08 20172017-05-08May 07 20172017-05-07May 24 20182018-05-24 +1 copiesA seated bearded man in saffron-brown robes, with long swept-back dark hair and a red tilak on his forehead, smiles while wearing a heavy garland of red roses, yellow flowers and round yellow fruits. Golden bangles are on his wrist. Under the thatched roof and wooden shrine doorway with hanging green leaves and brass bells, a young attendant in white dhoti with gold border kneels offering a red fruit on a golden vessel. Another attendant in white stands at left, and a figure in orange cloth stands at right edge. Swamiji (probable): the seated man wears a saffron robe, flower garland and long swept-back hair; he is the recipient of the offering, a seated guru receiving puja. Ritual setting with brass bells and an offering vessel.2017-01-15A seated man in a golden ornate throne with arched carved backrest sits in a maroon-red robe with a rudraksha mala and ceremonial gold necklace, a red tilak and white markings on his forehead, smiling as he holds a handful of yellow flower petals or offering above a silver ornate bowl. A woman in white head covering and white clothing with an orange-red shawl, wearing earrings, extends her hand to receive or hold a small object. A white silver-engraved bowl sits in front of the throne on a red-brown cloth. Bamboo screens are in the background. Setting suggests a puja offering.2016-03-30November 11 20162016-11-11 +1 copies
