A woman in a red sari with a blue-bordered pallu and a red head covering stands with her back to the camera, facing a large pink stone pillar. The pillar, decorated with carved bands and a small shrine-like niche, is draped with garlands of yellow marigolds and red flowers, with bundles of dried grass tied to it. Two young men in dark clothing stand at the left, one with palms pressed together in namaskar. Fruit or flower offerings lie on the ground at the lower left. Palm trees and a roof edge frame the scene.2011-09-09A standing man in a red turban and red-and-blue ceremonial dress stands beside a tall copper dhvaja (flagstaff) decorated with yellow marigold garlands, green mango-leaf bunches and a bundle of grass at its top. A rudraksha-style mala hangs at his chest and his hands are folded in front of him. Coconut palm fronds and foliage fill the background, and an orange cloth wrapped at the base of the pole is surrounded by yellow flowers. Two figures are not clearly visible. The person's appearance does not clearly establish identity, so he is described by role as a devotee or priest near the flagstaff.2011-09-09September 09 20112011-09-09September 09 20112011-09-09Outdoor photo of a man in a bright red turban and red shawl over a blue-and-grey bordered garment, standing beside a large ornate copper ceremonial vessel with a kalasha-like top wrapped in orange cord and mango leaves. The man holds a small handbell in one hand and a flame or lamp at the top of his turban, with a rudraksha-style mala at his neck. Its base is wrapped with green leaves, grass and white and yellow marigold garlands with red flowers. At the right edge, a person in a rust-red cloth wears a long coral and yellow flower garland and raises both arms to haul the rope that runs up the pole. A palm frond is visible behind, and a corrugated shelter roof crosses the upper left. The scene is outdoors and appears to be a flag-raising in a temple or ashram precinct.2015-02-23December 14 20162016-12-14August 23 20112011-08-23Looking upward from ground level, a tall carved wooden dhwaja stambha (flagstaff) rises against a pale sky, its ringed shaft wrapped with green leaves and grass at the base and draped with white and orange-red marigold garlands around the carved pedestal. A woman in an orange-red sari and matching orange-red marigold garland stands at right, holding a brass handbell in one hand and a small brass lamp with flame in the other, with a palm tree behind her.
