A photograph of a central figure in a rust-red robe with a rudraksha mala across the chest and a garland of white flowers with red and yellow blossoms, palms pressed together in greeting namaste with a small red bindi on the forehead. Around him stand many young male renunciants with shaved heads and white horizontal tilak marks, wearing saffron-orange and red cloth, several with folded hands, some with rudraksha malas. On the right a man in a red-and-gold dhoti with a rudraksha mala and a small headset microphone stands with hands clasped. A red and yellow decorated pillar and green foliage form the outdoor setting, consistent with a sanyas initiation or pada puja gathering.2014-10-04March 10 20132013-03-10August 12 20162016-08-12March 11 20132013-03-11September 09 20142014-09-09Outdoor photo of a man standing with palms pressed together in namaste, eyes lowered, wearing a rust-red saffron-toned robe and a white jasmine garland threaded with gold beads and orange-yellow marigolds. A red bindi is on his forehead and a golden trident stands behind him. Behind him, several devotees in orange and red garments and white ash markings stand in a row under green trees. Yellow and red decorated banner cloth hangs at left.2014-10-05A photograph of a ceremonial gathering outdoors under trees, with a pillar and red-painted structure behind. In the centre, a man with short dark hair and a white tilak stands with palms pressed together in namaste, wearing a white-and-red-flowered garland, a rudraksha mala and a maroon-red dhoti with a yellow border. Beside him, a bald man in gold-rimmed glasses, a dark rudraksha mala and a maroon-red garment with a brown shawl holds a long wooden pole. Around them stand many young boys and men with shaved heads, white forehead markings and saffron-orange robes, some holding their hands together in prayer, forming a row of devotees.2014-10-04October 04 20142014-10-04A photograph of a man in a rust-red saffron-toned sannyasi wrap, his bare upper chest visible, wearing a long garland of pink and white flowers interspersed with gold beads and gold ornaments. He stands with palms pressed together at his chest, eyes half-closed in a serene expression. Behind him stand several people: a shaven-headed man in red and gold shawl on the left, a woman in white with a red-bordered cloth, a man in white kurta with a rudraksha mala, and a woman in red-and-gold garments. Green foliage and trees fill the outdoor background. The central man has distinctive appearance cues, including swept-back hair, a bindi and ornate gold-bead garland, so he is an appearance-based a person in person.2014-09-09October 04 20142014-10-04A photograph of an outdoor ceremony. In the centre, a man with a white forehead band, red-brown ochre robe and long rudraksha mala stands with a white-and-pink flower garland, hands extended over a stone-topped offering basin with smoke rising. Behind him a young woman in a red dress with gold sash plays a long brass horn, and a boy in an orange-saffron robe with rudraksha beads holds a small brass vessel. Other attendants in white dhotis, orange robes and white forehead marks stand nearby, some holding ritual items, and a man in an orange turban is visible in the background. The a person label is probable: the central figure has a long swept-back hairstyle, a red-brown robe and rudraksha beads with a garland, though the cues are moderately distinctive. The image is a photograph of real people at an outdoor ritual.2014-06-12December 03 20162016-12-03
