March 13 20132013-03-13Photograph inside a temple-style hall with turquoise and pink painted walls and two large painted guardian figures with raised weapons flanking a doorway. Seated centrally on an ornate gilded throne draped with a striped cloth is a person in saffron-orange robes wearing a red-and-gold necklace and a beaded mala, hands raised near the chest. In front, a shaved-headed man in saffron robes and a mala sits on the floor beside a tiered brass oil lamp with lit flames. A woman in a red blouse and orange sari sits nearby, and a man in white clothes sits on a carpet at right with his head bowed in prayer. Small lights shine behind the throne and a water bottle sits near the seated man.2013-03-13A seated figure in a red robe with a rudraksha mala sits on an ornate gold throne with a white tiger-skin cushion, framed by a doorway in a painted temple hall with colourful dwarapala guardian figures holding tridents and maces. In the foreground a bald priest in orange-red cloth holds up a tiered brass oil lamp with lit wicks, beside a small brass bell. Two attendants in orange robes stand near the throne, and a woman in a gold-and-orange sari stands on the right beside a seated woman in dark clothing. The scene looks like a puja or aarti in progress. The seated figure matches the appearance cues for a person, with a rudraksha mala and red robe, though the image is not clear enough to confirm.2013-03-24March 16 20132013-03-16A photograph inside a temple shrine. The walls are pink, blue and green with decorative trim.2014-04-04A photograph of a ritual aarti in a temple hall with brightly painted blue and pink walls and two large painted dvarapala guardian figures holding clubs flanking a doorway. In the centre a tiered silver lamp with many lit flames is held up by a shaved-headed priest in an orange-brown dhoti with a white tilak and rudraksha mala, at left. Beyond the lamp, a seated figure in orange robes and a red-bead mala sits on an ornate gold throne draped with a striped cloth, with a dark background of small lights. At right a man in white clothes sits with hands folded in anjali, and brass oil lamps stand on the floor. The scene reads as an aarti or puja offered before a seated teacher.2013-03-13A photograph inside a colourfully painted temple hall with pink, green and blue ornamentation. Two large painted guardian statues with multiple arms, fierce moustached faces and trident-like staffs flank a doorway. Within the doorway a seated figure in orange-saffron robes and rudraksha beads sits on an ornate gold throne draped with a white cloth bearing a tiger motif, surrounded by hanging lamps. In the foreground, a bald man in orange robes holds a lit multi-branched oil lamp (aarti) toward the throne. Other devotees in orange kneel at the sides with hands joined, and brass lamps stand on the marble floor.2013-02-27March 20 20132013-03-20February 17 20132013-02-17April 01 20132013-04-01March 08 20132013-03-08A temple-hall photograph with a shaved-headed priest in the foreground wearing an orange-brown dhoti and gold ornaments, holding a tall multi-tiered lamp with lit flames aloft toward a seated figure.
