A seated man in a golden-yellow ornate throne wears a maroon-red shawl, rudraksha mala and gold necklaces, with a red tilak on his forehead; the throne is a probable Swamiji (appearance-based, with saffron-ornate clothing and a crown-like head adornment). Standing behind him, a bare-chested priest in a white dhoti and orange shawl holds a lamp under a decorated umbrella. A shaved-headed priest in white sits in the foreground near brass vessels, kalasha pots and a silver lamp. Garlands of red and yellow flowers decorate a gilded palanquin-like structure on the left, with a golden lion carving. Devotees in yellow and pink sit in the background.2016-12-07March 27 20162016-03-27Inside a temple, a man with long, voluminous curly hair and an orange saffron robe stands at right, back partly turned, pouring or applying liquid over a richly decorated deity murti. The murti is adorned with multicolour garlands of red, yellow, green and white flowers, a golden crown, a yellow cloth and a blue sash. Behind it stands an ornate gilded throne and a golden canopy with red-and-white fringed parasols. A framed portrait showing a robed figure in orange sits on the throne. At left, a younger man in an orange dhoti-style robe with a sacred thread stands beside a second parasol and offering vessels, with a multicoloured patterned hanging behind. The scene suggests an abhishekam or puja ritual.2007-11-09December 07 20162016-12-07 +1 copiesA photograph of a Hindu ritual at a shrine draped with white cloth. Three men stand at left: two bare-chested priests in white dhotis with saffron and pink cloths, one wearing a pink and white turban and beaded necklaces, one holding a small object. The central, tall shrine is a multi-tiered, lion-supported structure decorated with marigold and red flower garlands, gold-framed foliage and a central deity murti. One priest raises a long wand or fan toward the shrine. Two large gilt ceremonial fans with ornate emblems flank the shrine. At far right, a figure in a red and gold garment with a flower garland is partly visible. No swami figure is clearly identifiable.2015-10-19August 21 20142014-08-21
