A young priest in white dhoti and shawl with a gold-coloured sash sits behind a fire pit built of stacked yellow bricks, holding a flaming ladle over the kindling. A priest in white and red-bordered dhoti kneels at right beside a brass plate of offerings. Behind them, a standing man in an orange robe and a cameraman in white stand near a gold ornate throne-like chair with red cushion. On the right, several deity murtis are dressed with white and orange garlands, with brass kalasha pots holding coconut and mango leaves on a pink cloth. A seated man and other devotees sit in the background. A woman with dark hair in the lower left foreground has hands folded in prayer.2010-12-23A photograph of a Hindu ritual in progress. Two shirtless priests sit on the floor; the front-left priest wears a white dhoti with a green-bordered cloth over his shoulder and a beaded mala, while the seated priest in the centre wears a blue dhoti and mala and holds a green leaf and small offering toward a kalasha, a brass vessel topped with a coconut and tied with red and yellow flower garlands. Behind the altar stand a gold-framed arch, brass lamps and garlanded deity murti in pink and green drapery. Stacked orange-brown bricks, marigold garlands, a silver tray with fruit and sweets, and a bowl of petals fill the foreground. A third person in white sits at the right edge. This appears to be a puja or homa-style offering, with no crowd visible.2015-10-18Temple ritual photograph: two priests perform worship before a deity murti decorated with garlands of white and orange-yellow flowers. The seated priest on the left, bare-chested with a white dhoti and beaded neck garland, watches while the priest in the centre, bare-chested with a blue cloth and white dhoti, holds a ceremonial whisk or fan over the altar. A brass lamp stand, brass vessels, and trays of flowers and offerings sit in front, with pink and green draperies and a gold-framed shrine arch behind. No identifiable a person figure is visible.2015-10-18March 16 20172017-03-16December 23 20102010-12-23Outdoor ritual on a tiled courtyard before red-painted buildings and palm trees. Three men in white dhotis sit on mats around a spread of banana-leaf offerings: plantains, coconut halves wrapped in white flowers, small brass vessels, red and orange cloth-wrapped books, and heaps of rice. The seated man on the right wears an orange cloth over his shoulder, a rudraksha mala, and a gold chain, and gestures over the offerings. The younger man beside him wears a pink-and-white flower garland. A third priest on the left has a gold ring and lifts a hand. A large silver-covered box, a gold-framed panel, marigold garlands, a brass oil lamp and a yellow-flowered arrangement complete the abhishekam-style puja setup.2017-04-17
