February 02 20162016-02-02A seated figure in saffron-orange robes with hands joined in namaskar sits on a gold lion-supported throne with a large jewelled heart-shaped backrest studded with red, green and white flowers. A garland of pink and white flowers hangs around his neck. In the foreground, a man in a pink headcloth and light green dhoti holds a brass aarti lamp with a flame toward a deity murti decorated with garlands of marigolds and roses. A standing attendant in white stands nearby, and a brass lamp stand and a tray of flowers sit on the floor. The setting is a puja at a shrine, consistent with aarti being performed for a seated guru.2016-02-02February 02 20162016-02-02February 02 20162016-02-02February 02 20162016-02-02A temple-style ritual hall during a homa or puja. In the centre, a seated figure in orange and saffron robes with a red-and-orange garland sits on an ornate gold throne with a large multicoloured halo-shaped backrest and gold lion armrests; the figure's appearance is not clearly established, so the identity is uncertain. In the foreground, a man with a red turban, bare chest, gold necklaces and a yellow shawl holds a lit oil lamp beside a fire pit with flames and offerings of fruit, flowers and sweets. A bare-chested man in white dhoti and gold necklaces sits at right beside a standing attendant in white with a garland. Brass lamps, kalasha-style vessels, fruit trays and marigold garlands cover a striped cloth, and a gold deity murti stands in an alcove at right.2016-02-02A seated man on an ornate golden throne with lion-figure armrests and a golden canopy presses his palms together in namaskar, wearing a long yellow-orange garland and a red-and-maroon cloth. Behind him is a colourful throne back of white flowers with yellow, red and green petals. A standing priest bare-chested in a yellow dhoti holds a lit oil lamp aloft on a stand toward the seated man, wearing a red coral mala. A silver trident stands at the left and another at the right, with a second attendant in white robes and a gold necklace at the far right. A green leafy backdrop fills the top.2015-07-16A photograph of a seated figure in an ornate gold and red throne draped with marigold and white flower garlands, hands pressed together in namaste, with a long orange-red wrap and a red turban, and a long rudraksha-style red and orange garland around the neck and gold armbands. Beside the throne, a priest in an orange-brown dhoti and shawl stands holding a multi-flamed brass aarti lamp toward a decorated deity murti with a floral garland and a flower-covered pink-draped altar. Smoke drifts in the foreground.2015-04-30A homa ritual in an indoor hall: a priest in white dhoti with a bare chest, an orange head cloth and a green shawl over his shoulder holds a lit brass arati lamp over a fire pit of wooden logs and offerings, with a bowl of flowers and fruit nearby. Behind him stands an ornate golden throne with a cobra-hood backrest decorated with coloured beads and flowers, where a figure in orange and red garments with a crown and a garland sits. Several people in saffron robes stand near the throne, and a group of devotees in orange sits on a stage at left. Two framed posters hang on the wall. Colourful striped mats cover the floor.2016-02-02A photograph of a ceremonial stage with an ornate jewelled peetha backdrop topped by a golden cobra hood. A seated figure with a tall dark swept-back hair style, red-brown saffron-toned robe, red and white garlands and a rudraksha-style necklace sits with palms pressed together in namaste. Beside him, a bare-chested priest in white dhoti with a red headcloth and sacred ash marks stands holding a pot. To the right, a deity murti with red and gold garlands and a crown is seated. A brass oil lamp and flower arrangements frame the scene. Swamiji (probable): the seated figure's long swept-back hair, saffron-toned robe and ceremonial necklaces match the page's identification cues.2016-02-20 +1 copiesJanuary 06 20132013-01-06February 02 20162016-02-02
