July 29 20082008-07-29A group of saffron-robed sannyasis walks barefoot along a paved street in front of a temple gateway. The central man wears an orange dhoti and shawl with gold borders and a long ornate gold bead necklace, with a red bindi on his forehead. Around him, men in white dhotis with gold-bordered shawls and white-and-orange-clad monastics carry a small brass vessel and an orange cloth bag. Sandalwood tilaka marks cover several foreheads, and rudraksha malas hang on many chests. Behind them, a metal gate and shopfronts line the street. Appearance cues alone are not sufficient to identify the central figure, so his role is described as a saffron-clad sannyasi leading the procession.2011-09-26A photograph of saffron-robed men on a staircase beside a whitewashed wall with red painted stripes and a metal drainpipe. In the foreground, a man with long dark hair, a red tilak on his forehead and a large gold necklace over an orange shawl descends the steps. Beside him, a man with long dark hair in an orange robe with maroon borders holds a small silver plate. Behind them, other figures in orange robes stand near a red railing and green foliage.2010-02-12Outdoor courtyard scene beside a concrete staircase with a white-painted wall and green palm foliage. Around them, a crowd of devotees in orange and saffron shawls, white dhotis and kurtas stands on the path. Some wear rudraksha-style beads and mala necklaces, and one man in front has a gold bracelet. Several figures are partly visible at the edges.2008-08-03Outdoor photo of a group descending a wide stone staircase, many wearing orange shawls. In the foreground a man in a long-sleeved red-orange top and orange wrap walks down the steps, flanked by a man in an orange wrap with a red-brown border and a bag strap. Behind them a man in white kurta and orange shawl and a man in white with an orange shawl and a bag are walking, and a bearded man in white dhoti and orange shawl holds a walking staff. Two women in white tops with orange scarves stand among the group. A red-painted wall and posters on the right; a few other people with orange wraps are visible at the left edge. The foreground man has long hair tied back and appears to be a person by appearance cues: long hair and orange ceremonial clothing, though the image is not conclusive.2008-07-02A photograph of a group of men and a few women walking up a stone staircase beside a metal railing. Most of the men wear saffron-orange dhoti-style cloth with orange shawls draped over one shoulder, and some have sacred marks on their foreheads. Several men in white dhoti and white shirts, with orange shawls, walk among them. A woman in an orange shawl and dark top appears in the upper background, and a red-and-white building with a gate frames the scene. The men in the foreground walk in a single file, looking ahead as they climb.2008-07-10Outdoor photograph of a procession on a paved path beside a grey concrete block wall, with a white kolam floor design at lower left. At the centre, a man with long dark hair, wearing an orange cloth wrap and a white shawl, walks barefoot and receives a long garland of pink and white flowers draped over his shoulders. The surrounding men wear orange robes with rudraksha or gold bead necklaces, several are bare-headed or shaved-headed, and one bare-chested man at left wears a patterned white wrap. Behind them, a man in white shirt and dhoti walks among the group and a few onlookers stand near a pink-washed building.
