A group of saffron-robed sannyasis walks barefoot along a paved street in front of a temple gateway. The central man wears an orange dhoti and shawl with gold borders and a long ornate gold bead necklace, with a red bindi on his forehead. Around him, men in white dhotis with gold-bordered shawls and white-and-orange-clad monastics carry a small brass vessel and an orange cloth bag. Sandalwood tilaka marks cover several foreheads, and rudraksha malas hang on many chests. Behind them, a metal gate and shopfronts line the street. Appearance cues alone are not sufficient to identify the central figure, so his role is described as a saffron-clad sannyasi leading the procession.2011-09-26A photograph of several men walking barefoot along a paved street in procession, outside a temple gate. The central figure wears a saffron-orange dhoti and shawl with gold borders, a heavy gold bead necklace, and a red tilak on his forehead; he has long dark hair swept back and is smiling. A man to his left in orange robes and a rudraksha mala carries a small silver vessel, and a younger man in white dhoti with gold borders walks behind. Others in white and orange clothing follow, and a person at right carries an orange bag. The scene is outdoors with iron gates and a temple entrance in the background.2011-09-26September 26 20112011-09-26May 07 20122012-05-07May 07 20122012-05-07A photograph of a group walking through a temple interior at night. A central figure with long swept-back dark hair, a gold-and-bead necklace, gold armbands and an orange saffron garment with a gold border walks forward, appearing to speak. Probable Swamiji by appearance: long hair, ornate gold necklaces and saffron clothing. Around him, several men wear saffron or orange robes with rudraksha malas, one in a white kurta with rudraksha beads, and a woman in a cream sari stands behind. Another man in a white kurta with rudraksha mala is at the right edge. A carved stone pillar and a metal rod are visible in the background.2012-04-11September 24 20122012-09-24Outdoor procession on a stone-paved path near a gopuram temple tower. A man with long dark swept-back hair, wearing a saffron-orange garment with gold trim, a rudraksha-style gold necklace, a white-and-yellow garland and a forehead tilak, raises his hand in greeting and smiles. Around him walk shaved-headed men in orange and white dhotis with gold necklaces and white forehead markings, some with bare shoulders, and a photographer raises a camera in the background.2010-12-29September 12 20122012-09-12A photograph of four men walking barefoot across a tiled temple corridor in orange saffron robes, with gold-bordered cloth draped over their shoulders. The man second from left has long swept-back dark hair, a vertical tilak on his forehead, layered rudraksha malas and a ceremonial gold necklace, and he is looking upward. Two shaved-headed men walk beside him in orange, one with white ash markings on his arms and a mala, and the man on the far right has white hair, a white headband, and several beaded malas. Behind them a crowd of men and boys in white dhotis and shirts stands in the background, and a dark wooden cabinet is visible on the right.2012-05-22A photograph of a procession inside a temple at night, with a crowd of devotees behind. In the centre a smiling man with swept-back long dark hair wears an orange-saffron dhoti and shawl, a gold-coloured ornate necklace, golden bangles and a rudraksha mala; he appears to be Swamiji (probable), based on the long swept-back hair, saffron clothing and ceremonial gold necklace. Around him walk saffron-robed men with rudraksha malas and sacred ash marks, a woman in a white sari, and on the right a man in white kurta with a rudraksha mala carrying a silver staff. Other devotees in white and orange stand in the background.2012-04-11Outdoor procession on a paved hexagonal-tile path shaded by trees, with a crowd of men in white dhotis and shirts behind. At centre, a long-haired man in saffron-orange drapery wears a large garland of white flowers with blue and green beads, a thick rudraksha mala and gold ceremonial necklaces, and holds a tall wooden staff. Swamiji (probable) is the central figure, distinguished by his long swept-back hair, saffron clothing and layered ornaments. Flanking him, shaved-headed sannyasis in orange robes and gold beaded necklaces walk barefoot, one holding the staff, and a man in a white-and-gold dhoti stands among the devotees. A bare-chested man at right in orange cloth looks ahead, and a red-and-white decorated pole is visible at the upper right.2012-07-03
