A photograph of a ritual scene inside a temple hall. A man with long dark dreadlocks, a red-brown wrap, gold necklace and coral bangles stands at left, holding a white silk cloth with gold borders and draping it over a large brown pot-shaped object (a kalasha or sacred vessel) topped with a green leaf and silver-crowned headpiece, which is garlanded with white jasmine. An orange silk cloth lies over the object. A second person in an orange-red wrap and beaded necklace stands behind, and a brass oil lamp stands at right. Appearance-based candidate for a person, with long dreadlocks, ornate gold necklace and coral bangles, though the face is not clearly visible.

A photograph of an outdoor ritual. A man with long dreadlocks and a white and red forehead marking, wearing a rust-red robe and a garland of pink and white flowers with a gold pendant, stands with his right palm raised toward a white cloth-wrapped pole. Two attendants flank him: one on the left holds a wooden stick, and one on the right with a rudraksha mala and gold ornament presses his hands together in prayer. Behind them, a crowd of people in saffron-orange robes and turbans stands in the open air beneath trees. A brass plate with a small bowl sits beside the pole.

Outdoor evening puja at a ritual table. A man with long swept-back dark hair, wearing a rust-red robe, a braided pinkish-red beaded mala and a heavy gold necklace, rests a hand over a silver puja tray while a second priest in rust-red robes and gold necklace holds his hands near an offering. Behind them stands a shaved-headed priest in ochre robes with a white tilak and a standing crowd. The table holds a white cloth-draped vessel, a brass plate, a silver bowl of pink flowers, silver lamp stands, an oil lamp, incense, and a floral arrangement with marigolds and white blooms. A dark pole stands at left. The lamp light gives the scene a warm glow.

Outdoor photograph of a ritual at a festival. A bearded man with long dreadlocks and a red tilak on his forehead, wearing a deep red-brown unstitched cloth, a pink and white flower garland and gold pendant ornaments, reaches up to wrap a white cloth with gold borders around a white pole. Beside him, a man with a bare chest and a long rudraksha-style bead necklace holds a silver tray with a small bowl. Behind them, many people in orange and saffron robes and orange headwear stand in a crowd, with a red and orange canopy with tassels above. The scene suggests a procession or ceremonial rite, and the wrapping gesture is the focus.

A photograph of a shiva deeksha initiation at an outdoor temple-style setting. A man seated on an ornate red and silver throne with silver lion-head armrests wears a brown-orange draped garment, a multi-strand gold necklace, earrings, red and white flower garlands, and a tilak on his forehead; he places his right hand on the forehead of a bare-chested initiate kneeling before him. The initiate has white ash markings on his shoulder and chest, a dark brown cloth, and a beaded rudraksha-style necklace. A third man standing at left wears white dhoti-style clothing with a gold border, a long beaded necklace and a rudraksha-like mala. Behind them is a carved stone pillar with a relief of a deity murti. Swamiji (probable): the seated figure has long swept-back dark hair, a crown-less tilak, ornate gold jewellery, a flower garland and saffron-brown clothing, with a rudraksha-style setting; he is presented here as the one giving the deeksha.
