March 18 20142014-03-18March 18 20142014-03-18March 18 20142014-03-18A night-time riverside ritual at a ghat. A figure in saffron-orange robes and a matching orange turban pours water from a golden-rimmed kalasha vessel, with a red cloth wrapped around it, into a dark river. White markings are on the arms and forehead, and a gold-edged sash hangs at the waist. Behind on the left, a second robed figure with a shaved head tends a table draped in gold cloth, holding flowers, a brass lamp and metal vessels. The scene is lit only by sparse background lights. Based on appearance alone, the figure pouring water has long hair swept back under the turban and distinctive orange clothing, so this is a person, performing an abhishekam-style water offering. Printed copyright text appears in the lower right.2014-03-18Night photograph of a robed figure in rust-red and saffron-bordered clothing with a red turban and rudraksha mala bending forward to pour water from a silver vessel held by a second person in matching red garments beside him. White paint marks decorate the upper arm of the pouring figure, and a rudraksha bracelet is on the wrist. The background is dark with a few distant lights, and a small metal cup sits at the bottom edge. Probable Swamiji is the figure pouring water, identified by the turban, long rudraksha mala, and saffron-bordered robes.2014-03-18Night-time photograph at a river or ghat edge. Two people in rust-orange and saffron cloth with gold borders stand at the stone steps. The figure in front, shown from the chest down with vibhuti marks on the arm and a rudraksha mala, pours water from a silver vessel into the dark water. Another person in orange bends beside them, and a small metal pot sits on the step. Distant lights glow across the water. The figure's face is not visible.2014-03-18Night-time photograph at a water's edge, with a stone step leading down into dark water. A barefoot figure in orange robes, bare-chested and with a orange shawl over the shoulder, stands on the step with one arm extended toward the water. Beside him, another person in orange clothing stands. Behind them, several people in white kurtas and dhotis stand in a group; one man in white holds a brass plate of flower garlands and petals. A man in the foreground in white clothing holds green objects in his hand. The scene is dim, lit mainly by ambient light, with a faint corner logo and copyright text at the edges.2009-06-22Night-time photo at a water's edge with a concrete step running into dark water. A bare-chested man in orange cloth draped over his shoulders and wrapped around his waist stands on the step, extending a small lit lamp over the water. Behind him, several men in white dhotis and shirts stand on the bank; one holds a tray of flowers and another a small lamp, while an older man in white folds his hands in prayer. The scene suggests a ritual offering of lamps on water, with a dim lantern light at the right edge.2009-06-22Night photograph at a stone-edged water ghat. A bare-chested man in an orange dhoti with an orange shawl stands barefoot on the steps, extending both hands to release an offering into dark water. Behind him, people in white clothes stand on the bank; one holds a tray of flowers, and another in white holds hands together in prayer. A handheld light glows near the offerer. The dark water fills the right side of the frame. A copyright line appears at the lower right.2009-06-22June 22 20092009-06-22December 29 20122012-12-29March 20 20142014-03-20
