In the foreground a bare-backed man in an orange-yellow dhoti and pink upper cloth, with a rudraksha-style garland, holds up a ceremonial vessel and a flaming offering toward the fire. Behind the fire, seated on a dark wooden throne-like chair, a man in red robes with a red head covering or crown-like headwear and gold necklaces sits with hands folded. Marigold petals and garlands decorate the fire pit edges. Around them a crowd of about 15 seated and standing devotees, many in white or light clothing, watches; a standing man in red at far left holds his hands together. A seated figure in red robes with gold ornaments is described only by role, as a seated ritual participant, with identity left unsure.2015-12-11October 17 20122012-10-17November 05 20102010-11-05Night outdoor fire ritual on grass. In the foreground a priest in an orange-and-red turban and orange-gold dhoti kneels at a brick fire pit where a flame rises, pouring offerings into it. Behind him a metal tray holds yellow and orange offerings, bowls, a kalasha-style vessel, a lit oil lamp and marigold flowers on banana leaves. Further back, a standing man in a red-brown robe and tall yellow-gold headdress stands beside a decorated seat, and about six seated people in white and colourful saris and orange clothing face the fire. Palm plants and bright floodlights frame the scene. This appears to be a homa or yagna.2013-12-09Night-time outdoor ritual on a riverbank at a ghat, lit by floodlights. In the foreground a small brick fire pit burns with oil lamps and flames, flanked by silver trays of bananas and offerings.
