Devotees stand and sit in rows facing a dark altar alcove framed by gold drapes in a hall with an EXIT sign. A figure at the altar holds a trident and a small flame, while the crowd watches in traditional clothing: white dhotis with gold borders, a saffron shawl, a blue sari, a bare-backed woman in a white sari and a man in a plaid shirt. Red carpets cover the floor, and deity murtis are visible at the right edge. Colourful patterned fabric and cushions appear near the front.2019-03-04Indoor ritual gathering in a gold-draped hall with red patterned carpets. A bare-chested man with long hair and a white-and-gold dhoti stands at left, raising a lit lamp. Seated devotees in orange and white clothing face a large screen showing a bearded figure in ornate garlands. Brass plates, a kalasha-style vessel and oil lamps sit before the seated group, and a flame burns at the lower left. A priest in white at centre gestures over an offering tray. The scene suggests a puja or aarti during an evening programme.2019-03-04Indoor temple procession in a hall with grey carpet. A golden palanquin decorated with red and pink flower garlands carries a deity murti draped in a colourful silk cloth. A barefoot man with reddish hair wears a white dhoti and shawl, a rudraksha mala, and pulls the palanquin with a long wooden pole. To the right, a woman in a blue sari with gold trim balances a tray of fruit on her head, and a woman in a maroon and gold sari walks beside her. A drum is visible behind them, along with several other devotees, a child in a striped top, and a framed painting on the wall above a wooden altar.2008-04-27KAILASA HOUSTON USA On February 15, 20262026-02-14 +1 copiesKAILASA LOS ANGELES, USA on 3/4/20192019-03-04Photo 11709661KAILASA LOS ANGELES, USA on 2/21/20202020-02-21Night photograph of an outdoor procession at a temple-style courtyard lit by bright floodlights, with colourful string lights overhead. Around him, devotees in saffron, maroon and purple garments stand with hands joined in anjali, and men in white dhotis carry a large drum and a camera on a pole. Ceremonial parasols with striped fabric and a gilded palanquin-style structure stand behind, with palm trees and foliage in the background. Approximately fifteen people are visible.2016-12-13A photograph of a homa or fire ritual inside a decorated temple hall. At centre, a smoking fire pit sends up a plume of smoke, surrounded by stacked brick-shaped offering blocks decorated with flower garlands and marigolds. A bearded priest in a white dhoti and gold-coloured shawl stands in the middle holding a small offering vessel, and a bare-chested attendant in orange cloth on the left holds a brass tray. Other priests in white and orange clothing, some wearing rudraksha beads, stand nearby, and a crowd of devotees in white and bright saris watches with hands folded along the right. Brass lamps, a copper pot, banana leaves, fruit and marigold garlands fill the red-and-white striped floor mats. Colourful cloth decorations and kalasha-style pillars hang overhead.2018-04-14 +1 copiesJanuary 04 20152015-01-04November 05 20102010-11-05Photo 11743164 +2 copies
