The pot is filled with milk coming to a boil, its surface frothing with white foam and bubbles. Red and yellow kumkum or turmeric marks dot the bricks and surrounding ground. The scene suggests milk being boiled in a clay pot over a wood fire as part of a ritual preparation.2006-12-31Overhead photograph of a Pongal cooking offering on the ground. A clay pot filled with white boiling milk rice sits on a stone hearth, ringed with yellow and white chrysanthemums and red roses, with flame visible at the base and dry sticks scattered around. Chalk kolam designs decorate the earth. A person in a pink patterned garment kneels at the upper left edge; a wooden stick lies across the top, and a red-brown object sits at the lower right.2018-01-15January 14 20182018-01-14January 15 20182018-01-15January 15 20182018-01-15January 14 20182018-01-14 +1 copiesDecember 31 20062006-12-31A photograph of a clay pot of milk boiling over a fire on sand, placed between two red bricks marked with white paint and small kumkum or turmeric spots. The milk is foamed and bubbling at the rim, with a wooden stick resting beside the pot. No people are visible; this appears to be a preparatory milk boiling for a ritual offering, such as a pongal-style cooking for offerings.2006-12-31December 31 20092009-12-31Close view of a Pongal pot, a glazed earthen vessel with painted white geometric lines, boiling over with steam and topped by a mound of white rice. A garland of yellow marigolds and red rose buds wraps its neck. Sugarcane stalks stand on either side, and yellow flowers and marigold garlands lie on the ground. Blurred figures in orange and maroon saris stand behind on a red floor. No identifiable a person is visible.2018-01-14 +1 copies
