A close overhead photograph of a terracotta clay pot set on bricks over a small open fire, with flames visible at the upper edge. The pot is filled with milk coming to a boil, its surface frothing with white foam and bubbles. Red and yellow kumkum or turmeric marks dot the bricks and surrounding ground. The scene suggests milk being boiled in a clay pot over a wood fire as part of a ritual preparation.

Flames lick the sides of the pot, and a few stray flames rise nearby. The ground is sandy, with scattered twigs and a little kumkum-coloured powder marked on the brick and pot. At the top edge, the hems of a white cloth and a pink-and-white striped sari are partly visible, belonging to people standing just out of frame. This is a Pongal-style boiling of milk in a clay pot, a scene typical of Mattu Pongal rituals. No one's face is visible, and no identity is shown.2019-01-16December 31 20092009-12-31December 31 20062006-12-31December 31 20092009-12-31December 31 20092009-12-31
