Photograph of a night-time abhishekam ritual at an outdoor thatched shelter. A bare-chested priest in orange turban and orange dhoti kneels at lower left, holding a lit oil lamp over a large brass vessel and a small brass bell-like vessel near his hand. Beside him on the floor are a plate of fruit including pineapple, mango and coconut, scattered white flower petals, a red flower on a brass plate and a flat stone slab. Standing at right is a large black stone deity murti dressed in an orange silk dhoti with gold border, orange turban, layered silver and gold necklaces with green stones, and white jasmine garlands. A person in white clothing stands at the right edge. Flames rise from the lamp and brass vessels line a red wall behind.2004-06-10October 29 20162016-10-29At night, a man in orange-brown saffron robes and a matching orange turban kneels in front of a blazing homa fire pit, hands pressed together in prayer namaste. Behind him stands a large deity murti with blue skin, multiple arms, and a white and red garland, flanked by purple and yellow drapes. Brass oil lamps, marigold garlands, a silver vessel, and offering plates surround the fire, and small lamps glow along the white and red steps behind. The figure is not clearly identifiable from appearance, so his identity is left unsure.2013-11-02October 29 20162016-10-29Night-time homa at an outdoor fire pit before a large deity murti. A man in a saffron-orange dhoti and shawl with a matching orange turban stands at left, holding a brass tray with a white cloth bundle and flowers. Behind the fire, a blue-faced goddess murti with a white crown and a red flower garland stands on a draped stage with a gold cloth. Marigold garlands surround the fire pit, and brass vessels and lamps sit at its edge. Stone steps with lit oil lamps frame the background. The figure's appearance does not clearly support a person identification, so this is a priest-like participant.2013-11-02A dim, smoky photo inside a thatched-roof shelter during an abhishekam. A large black stone deity murti stands at right, wearing an orange silk garment with gold border, layered silver and jewelled necklaces, white jasmine garlands and red flowers, with a tilak on its forehead and an orange turban. A seated figure in orange robes and an orange head wrap kneels at lower left, hands joined near an offering of fruits and flowers on the ground. Scattered white petals cover the floor, a brass pot stands in the middle, and a small oil lamp flame burns at lower right beside metal vessels on a red ledge behind.2004-06-10January 05 20142014-01-05December 20 20172017-12-20Night ritual outdoors beside a fire pit with a flaming homa or yagna. Behind a raised altar draped with a blue cloth sits a large golden cobra-hooded deity murti with garlands of yellow and orange marigolds, flanked by smaller garlanded idols. Behind them a crowd of devotees in white and red shawls stands watching against a dark night sky with strung lights overhead.2013-10-08October 29 20162016-10-29Night outdoor fire ritual before a large white-faced, blue-skinned deity murti with multiple arms, draped in red and yellow garlands and a white crown, standing on a yellow-draped platform. In the foreground a fire burns in a square pit with a bronze bowl of offerings beside it. A seated man in saffron-orange robes and an orange turban, shirtless with a shawl draped over his shoulders, sits cross-legged at left with hands together, eyes lowered.
