Lamps and tall ornamented poles glow above it. Two men in orange and saffron cloth stand on the float: one, bare-chested with a saffron shawl, holds a ceremonial implement, and another in white stands beside him. Behind them, a tractor-like vehicle is hung with garlands. Along the sides, devotees in white dhotis and orange or maroon saris stand watching, some with folded hands. The scene is lit by bright lights against a dark blue tent backdrop.2016-01-03Night procession photograph of a heavily decorated ratha (chariot) covered in layered garlands of red, yellow, white and green flowers, with a tall garland-draped canopy. A seated figure in the centre wears a golden crown and red garland, flanked by two standing attendants in white dhotis with rudraksha malas on bare torsos; one holds a long ceremonial staff. A tractor pulls the float. Bright lights, speakers and string lights line the street, with a few partially visible onlookers in the foreground and a cameraman at right. Whether the seated figure is a person cannot be confirmed from appearance; the central figure is a crowned person seated on the float.2016-12-23December 23 20162016-12-23December 23 20162016-12-23A night procession on a decorated vehicle. A deity murti is framed by a large arch of marigold and flower garlands and a white-and-red canopy on top. A shirtless man in a white dhoti stands on the golden-decorated platform, one hand at the murti, steadying it. A tractor-like vehicle pulls the float, its headlights glowing. Strings of multicoloured fairy lights in green, purple and blue stretch along the roadside, with dark trees and a lamp post behind.2016-12-09December 23 20162016-12-23December 23 20162016-12-23A night procession float (ratha) decorated with a colourful painted canopy of red, blue, yellow and orange panels with floral and bird motifs and orange fringe. In front stands a priest in orange robes holding a white yak-tail fly whisk (chamara) toward the deity. Offerings and a brass lamp sit on an orange cloth on the float platform. A tractor with two men in light clothing is at right, pulling the float. Visible painted bull and linga motifs appear at the top of the canopy.2011-11-01
