A man in white dhoti and yellow-tinged head wrap leans over a brick fire pit where a bright flame rises, stirring it with a long ladle. Beside him a bare-chested assistant in white cloth and gold necklaces holds a brass plate of offerings. Another priest in white stands at right with a brass vessel. Seated devotees in white and yellow clothes watch from the left, and a carved wooden peetha stands behind the fire. Marigold petals decorate the platform, and brass lamps and a red-garlanded deity murti sit at lower right.2010-10-16 +1 copiesEvening outdoor ritual in Phuket. A bearded man with bare chest and a red-and-white mala wears an orange-yellow dhoti and pink shawl, holding a silver multi-branched lamp with lit flames toward a seated man with a flower-wreath crown in yellow and green, wearing a leopard-print garment and red beaded necklaces. Other white-clad men stand behind with hands in anjali, one holding a phone. A tripod and a fan are visible, with the seated man's hands raised over the flame in an aarti gesture.2015-12-11November 07 20132013-11-07A photograph of a temple ritual in an open pavilion. A seated figure on an ornate gold throne with a large gilded sunburst backrest is wearing a brown-saffron garment, a dark head covering, a gold necklace and a multicolour garland of flowers. In front of him a priest in a white dhoti and shawl with a red-and-white border bends forward, holding a ritual vessel with hanging lamps. A square golden fire pit with a small flame sits at the centre, surrounded by scattered flower petals, and a tray of bananas, fruit and flowers with white cloth decorations is at the right. A cameraman in white stands behind the priest, and other seated people in white and orange clothes are visible in the background.2016-12-12
