A priest in saffron-orange dhoti and shawl, with a shaved head and white tripundra markings, holds a lit oil lamp aarti toward a pair of large dark wooden temple doors. Through the open doorway a golden deity murti and a seated figure in orange are partly visible. Deep red velvet drapes hang on the right, a painted ornamental frieze runs above, and a painted image of Ganesha stands at the left edge. A small brass lamp sits on a ledge at lower left and red carpets cover the white floor. The scene is a temple aarti at the sanctum doorway.2013-05-10May 07 20132013-05-07May 10 20132013-05-10 +1 copiesMay 07 20132013-05-07May 09 20132013-05-09May 13 20132013-05-13A photograph inside a temple shrine. A priest with long dark hair, wearing an orange-saffron cloth over his shoulders and a gold-trimmed garment, raises a flaming oil lamp or aarti lamp toward a deity murti. The shrine is decorated with a multicoloured garland of pink, green, white, yellow and purple beads, draped brown and maroon curtains, and a carved ornate wooden door on the left. Smoke or incense haze fills the air. Two brass oil lamps stand before the murti on a stone platform. Two devotees, one woman in a green saree and a man at the right edge, watch the aarti. The image is a photo.2006-01-24May 16 20132013-05-16January 24 20062006-01-24April 25 20122012-04-25A photograph of a temple shrine interior with warm orange lamp lighting. A bare-backed man in an orange-red dhoti with gold borders and a dark beaded rudraksha mala stands at left, one arm raised toward the top of a golden canopy shrine. Inside the shrine are a gold Nataraja (dancing Shiva) image, pink flowers and a small deity murti. Silver lamps and vessels stand on the base, with scattered flower petals. A partially visible person in white clothing stands at the right edge. The man appears to be performing a shrine ritual. The shrine's visible deity murti and dancing Shiva image suggest Shiva worship.2012-05-09 +1 copiesJune 06 20132013-06-06
