A large crowd of devotees walks barefoot along a dusty red dirt path under a heavy overcast sky at dusk, in what appears to be an outdoor procession. Most men wear white shirts or kurtas with white dhotis, and many wear orange or saffron shawls draped over their shoulders; women wear white and orange saris and orange shawls. A few people in the foreground carry white cloth or items, and a small string of orange lights and a flagpole with a flag are visible in the background among trees. No single person stands out as a clearly identifiable central figure in the frame.2008-08-01Night photograph of an outdoor gathering on a dirt ground with green and white lights glowing behind. In the centre, a man with long dark hair wears a saffron-orange robe, a rudraksha mala and a gold-coloured cloth in his hands; he is walked forward by people around him, and a bald sannyasi in orange robes with rudraksha malas walks beside him at right. Devotees in white dhotis and white shirts, a woman in white with a red shawl, and others in orange and cream clothing surround them, several with arms outstretched as if guiding the group. Several men in white cluster together at the edge of the frame, and a few people stand in the background.2011-11-09Night procession at an outdoor ground lit by colourful strings of lights and illuminated structures in the background. A large crowd of devotees in white dhotis and shirts, with some in orange and saffron garments, stands and moves forward with arms raised and faces lifted. Children in orange and gold-bordered outfits are prominent in the foreground. At left, a bright lamp light shines on a floral-decorated palanquin or ratha covered in garlands, beside a man in white clothes holding its side. Devotees in the foreground wear white with gold borders and bare upper bodies.2016-03-07Night outdoor gathering on a dusty ground where a bright light or fire glows at the centre-back, with smoke rising at right. Many people stand in a crowd, mostly in white ritual clothes with some in saffron and orange robes. A large orange umbrella is raised near the centre, and a man at left wears a red cloth, a white shawl and a bracelet while a man beside him wears an orange cap. Several figures in orange sannyasi-style robes stand among the crowd. The scene appears to be a ceremony in progress, possibly a homa or ritual fire.2009-01-01March 07 20162016-03-07October 10 20132013-10-10August 01 20082008-08-01April 17 20112011-04-17August 01 20082008-08-01A night-time outdoor procession at a temple or ashram ground lit by strings of coloured fairy lights along the edges. Dozens of people in white dhotis and white shirts or sarees walk and dance across a dusty open ground, with a few women in orange and red saris among them. Some younger boys in white clothes stand in the foreground. In the distance, bright lamps illuminate a decorated structure. The mood is festive and devotional, consistent with a Mahashivaratri procession.2016-03-07
