Brass bowls sit near the fire, and a long metal ladle or tool reaches toward the blaze. Around it on a white cloth sit silver ritual vessels: a small silver bowl, a silver kalasha-style vessel, a silver lamp stand with a small oil lamp, and a silver-handled ladle or spoon. Grass or kusha stalks lie at the left. A partial hand in an orange sleeve appears at the far left and a red cloth at the right edge. In the blurred background are a striped red, yellow and blue wall hanging and a golden deity or altar decoration with green and gold draping. No faces are visible. This is a homa/yagna setting.2013-05-24A photograph of a homa fire burning inside a square fire pit built from stacked yellow turmeric-coloured bricks, with a red kumkum mark on the brick corners. Flames rise from the centre. Behind it, a person in an orange dhoti with a maroon border sits cross-legged, with hands visible near the fire and a small spoon or ladle in one hand. To the right stand a silver kalasha-style vessel and a metal dish of yellow liquid on the left. The setting suggests a ritual fire ceremony. No face is visible, so no identity is asserted.2013-05-24March 18 20132013-03-18A homa fire ritual on a striped cloth outdoors. A fire burns inside a square pit of yellow-painted bricks decorated with white lines and scattered grains. Two priests in orange-red robes sit at the pit; one, with white ash markings on the arm, pours a ladle of oil or ghee into the flames from a silver bowl, while another in orange clothes and beaded necklaces holds a bowl nearby. A silver ritual vessel and a small leafy plant sit at the lower left, with dry sticks beside the pit. No clear face-based identification is made; the figures are described by role and dress only.2018-04-26 +1 copies
