A shaved-headed man in a red shawl and rudraksha mala kneels on a patch of earth between brick courses, placing red flowers or offerings into a brick-lined pit, with a silver or brass plate near him. Around him, several men in white dhotis and white shirts stand or bend in attendance; one older man at left holds a plate of flowers and marigold petals, and a young boy in a striped shirt stands among them. Orange and yellow flower petals lie on the ground and a white stone slab is at right. The kneeling figure is described by appearance as a person in a red shawl with a rudraksha mala, performing the ritual, while the others are devotees. A plain white wall forms the background.2001-01-11Photo 11741627A photograph of a temple ritual under a canopy. In the foreground a man in white dhoti and shirt bends forward, lighting or tending a small oil lamp on the ground beside a tray of offerings. Behind him stands a bare-chested man with a rudraksha mala and gold pendant, wearing orange-saffron cloth, with another person in orange beside him. Several men in white clothes stand around, some holding umbrellas. A red umbrella is visible at the top left, and greenery shows through the open doorway.2012-05-18Tiruchirapalli Aadheenam PersecutionOutdoors on bare red earth with a dense green tree line behind, a group of about eight men in white dhotis and white shirts stand with palms pressed together in namaskar. In the centre a man bends forward, placing his hands near a small flame burning on the ground, while a man in orange-saffron cloth stands beside him holding an offering tray. A young child in a white shirt and blue shorts also stands with hands folded.2007-09-17A photograph of an indoor puja in a hall with white pillars and a dark ceiling. A shaved-headed man in white clothes with a red-bordered cloth kneels at a white brick fire pit with a visible flame, holding a red-and-gold offering plate up to the fire. A woman in a red saree with her hands pressed together stands to the left, and a man in a red shirt stands beside him. Several other people in light and dark clothes stand along the back, one small child in a pink top at right. A framed portrait stands on the left wall, and brass oil lamps sit on the floor in the foreground. The image shows a homa or fire offering.2009-09-20A shaved-headed priest in a red and gold-bordered dhoti and shawl kneels at left, extending his right hand over a decorated altar with pink and white flower garlands, a kalasha-like brass pot, and clay pots with orange offerings in the foreground. Behind him, three men in white dhotis and shirts stand with folded hands under a thatched palm-leaf canopy, one in a checked shirt, with a tall palm frond overhead. The scene suggests a puja or abhishekam at an outdoor ritual site. Visible people are four, and the priest's appearance does not match the recognizable a person cues required for identification.2001-01-11
