The bare-chested figure has a red tilak or kumkum mark on the forehead, one hand raised in abhaya-style blessing and the other held out palm-up. It wears a golden dhoti-like lower garment with drapes that appear coated in gold, and red flowers lie at its feet. Partial figures and a brass vessel appear at the edges of the frame. No living people are clearly visible.2022-08-30 +1 copiesJanuary 16 20122012-01-16A photograph of a large standing statue of a bald, smiling sage with blue-painted eyes, bare-chested and draped in a golden-yellow dhoti, with the right hand raised in abhaya mudra. Water flows down over the statue during an abhishekam, streaming from above and down the front of the figure. A smaller gold-coloured figure of a child-sized devotee stands at the base beside a white pedestal. A red velvet curtain forms the backdrop. At the left edge, a partly visible person in white silk dhoti with gold border and a gold chain holds a vessel pouring liquid. This is a murti being bathed in a ritual, not a living person.2022-07-12 +1 copiesPhoto 11681734A six-panel collage of a golden statue being bathed in abhishekam liquids against a deep red velvet backdrop. The statue is a standing male figure with raised right palm and open left hand, dressed in a yellow dhoti with red border. In the panels, milk, yogurt or water pours over it, and in one panel a garland of flowers is draped at the chest and the dhoti is white with a gold border. In the bottom right panel a white-clad hand holds a lit oil lamp with multiple flames before the statue, which wears a crown, a multi-strand gold necklace and flower garlands. A white-clad devotee's arm and dhoti appear at the left edge of several panels. The images depict a Varsha Kumbhabhishekam ritual at a temple.2022-03-01June 10 20222022-06-10A golden statue of a standing male figure, bare-chested and wearing a golden lower garment, receives a pouring of liquid over its head and body from a green vessel held by a hand at the upper left. The statue has raised hands and stands on a golden pedestal with red flower petals at the feet, against a deep red draped backdrop. This appears to be an abhishekam ritual performed on a murti. No people are clearly visible beyond the pouring hand at the edge of the frame.2022-08-30 +1 copiesA photograph of a ritual abhishekam in progress. In the foreground a man in white clothing pours liquid from a vessel over a white statue of a deity murti, with a second deity figure in red and gold visible beside it. Behind them is an ornate gold and red shrine with decorative arches and a large framed portrait on the wall. A banner with Tamil lettering runs across the top. The man is the only physical person visible, so the scene is a temple-style puja with a deity murti being bathed.2015-05-05A silver-toned statue of a standing male figure. The figure wears an orange and red silk garment with a gold-bordered pink sash, layered gold chains, and a jewelled pendant with green stones. The raised right hand is shown in blessing, and yellow flower petals lie at its base. A small red mark is on the forehead and a ceremonial staff stands at the right side. The statue is a sculpture, not a living person.2021-03-06KAILASA HOUSTON, USA on 7/12/20222022-07-12 +1 copiesMay 09 20122012-05-09 +1 copies
