A photograph of a barefoot man in saffron-orange robes with a sash over his shoulder and a rudraksha mala around his neck walks across the open stone courtyard of a temple. A bald monk in orange robes with hands folded in greeting walks beside him, and another saffron-clad figure stands at right. Behind them rises a tall, richly painted gopuram tower with colourful sculpted figures. On the left, a worker in white clothes sweeps the courtyard with a broom, and a thatched shelter stands at the edge. The scene shows volunteers and ashramites cleaning and inspecting a temple premises during kar seva.2012-05-30December 10 20132013-12-10A photograph of a temple courtyard in front of a tall, colourfully painted gopuram tower with tiers of figures and ornate finials. A man with long dark hair, wearing a saffron-orange dhoti and shawl with a rudraksha mala, walks forward through the courtyard. Beside him, a shaven-headed sannyasi in orange robes and a second orange-clad monk walk along a pillared corridor. Behind them, a worker in white clothing stands near the temple walls, and a broom and cleaning activity are visible at the left, consistent with a temple cleaning effort. Strong sunlight and a pale stone pavement fill the scene.2012-05-30A photograph of a temple courtyard with a tall, richly painted gopuram tower in the background, its tiers covered in colourful deity sculptures. In the foreground a man with long dark hair, wearing an orange saffron dhoti and shawl and a rudraksha mala, walks across the paved ground. Beside him a shaved-headed monk in orange robes with his hands folded walks alongside. Another man in white clothing stands at the left edge, and part of a broom-wielding worker is visible. A stone colonnade runs along the right. The appearance of the figure in the centre shows several qualifying cues (long swept-back hair, saffron clothing, rudraksha mala), so he is described as a probable Swamiji in an in-person capacity.2012-05-30Madurai Aadheenam PersecutionPhotograph of a colourful South Indian temple gateway at a street entrance, with a tall multi-tiered gopuram behind it covered in painted sculptures in pink, blue, green and yellow. The arched gate has a deity relief above its opening, a pink-and-white painted sign band, and red-and-white striped boundary walls on either side. Palm and tree foliage frames the scene, and a blue information board stands at the right. Two or three people are partly visible at the lower edges, including one in an orange cloth, while a white van is parked at the right.2006-10-24May 16 20122012-05-16November 05 20062006-11-05May 08 20122012-05-08May 08 20122012-05-08A photograph of a temple courtyard with a tall, richly sculpted gopuram covered in painted deity figures, flanked by palm trees and a second gopuram on the left. In front, a gilded ceremonial vehicle decorated with floral garlands carries a framed portrait of a smiling man in a white turban, labelled with Tamil text. Several men in white dhotis and shirts, some carrying bags, walk across the paved ground, and a motorcycle is parked near a white boundary wall with red stripes.2006-10-10Outdoor photograph at a South Indian temple courtyard with a tall, richly painted gopuram tower in multicoloured tiers behind. A long-haired man in a saffron-orange dhoti and matching shawl, with a rudraksha mala around his neck, walks forward at the centre, a person candidate by his long swept-back hair, saffron clothing and rudraksha cues. Beside him a shaved-headed man in orange robes stands with hands folded, another orange-clad sannyasi stands at the right, and a man in white dhoti and shirt walks behind on the left.
