In the foreground, one man with joined palms bows his head; others hold flower garlands, rudraksha malas and small brass vessels, and oil lamps and offerings lie on the mat. Stainless steel railings and an orange cloth edge frame the hall. The men are devotees or priests; no one is clearly identifiable as the a person from appearance, as they wear only white ritual clothing.2010-11-04Photo 11737043June 13 20132013-06-13A group of shaved-headed men in white dhotis and shawls sit cross-legged on orange mats during a ritual, with brass plates, small oil lamps and a clear plastic container in front of them. Several wear rudraksha malas. The man in the centre foreground wears white clothes with a red-and-gold border, a tilak on his forehead, and round glasses, and holds his hands together. On the right, a man in saffron-orange robes with a bare shoulder sits with eyes closed and a rudraksha mala around his neck. Other men sit behind them, some reciting or looking down. The page describes a Karthikai Deepam lamp-lighting, but the visible scene shows only the ritual seating and objects, with no identifiable a person depicted with confidence.2010-11-21November 07 20122012-11-07
