Night-time outdoor ritual at a temple courtyard beside a tall copper-clad flagstaff or dhwajastambha rising from a pink stone base. A bronze nandi bull statue sits at the base of the pillar. A figure in saffron-orange robes stands on a raised platform near the top of the pole, holding a rope, while several men in orange and saffron dhotis and shawls handle ropes and stand around the base. Behind them, women and girls in red saris and devotees in orange clothing stand in a crowd, some with palms pressed together, and a conch or horn is held by one person at right. Coconut palms and a bright floodlight are visible, with red-and-orange decorative wiring overhead.2014-01-01January 01 20142014-01-01January 01 20142014-01-01January 01 20142014-01-01Night photograph of a flag-hoisting ceremony at an outdoor ashram site. A figure in orange-saffron robes stands at the base of a tall, ornate copper-coloured flagpole, pulling a red cloth banner upward; the banner bears a small emblem near its top. Behind the pole are a tall palm tree and a dark night sky. In the lower left foreground sits a dark stone deity murti, a Nandi-like or Shiva-linked figure, adorned with a garland of white and yellow flowers and a bead necklace. A saffron-coloured cloth lies draped over the pole's base, and an orange cloth sits on the platform in the lower right. The figure's face is not visible, so the figure's identity cannot be determined from the image.2008-03-26February 27 20142014-02-27February 06 20142014-02-06July 12 20142014-07-12December 18 20132013-12-18April 14 20132013-04-14 +1 copiesMay 14 20142014-05-14February 06 20142014-02-06
