A shirtless young priest in white dhoti and yellow silk dhoti with a patterned border pours liquid from a vessel into a fire pit with flames. An older man with glasses and a pink-violet shawl over white clothes stands beside him, leaning in to assist. A seated priest in white dhoti sits at the fire pit, and a man in a green cap and white kurta with a garland stands at right with palms joined. Brass lamps, kalashas, marigold garlands and scattered flower petals fill the foreground.2013-07-18Photo 11734659September 01 20132013-09-01A photograph of a temple ritual inside an ornate shrine hall. A bare-chested priest in a green sash and white dhoti stands at left, holding a lit lamp or camphor flame toward the deities. Two seated men sit on a red-cushioned bench in front of a richly decorated throne: the man in the middle wears a green and gold turban and white dhoti with a white garland, and the man at right wears a tall gold-and-white headdress, white dhoti with blue border, a golden shawl and a white garland. Behind them, a central deity murti is dressed in a red and gold garment, draped with yellow and white marigold garlands. Brass lamps, a multicoloured canopy with tassels, golden ornamental arches and a jewelled silver-and-gem ornament at right complete the scene. The figure in the central throne area wears a crown with a tall head ornament and adornments; the identity of the seated men is not established by visible cues.2016-03-27Photo 11734655
