July 17 20122012-07-17July 17 20122012-07-17A photograph of a satsang or puja in an ashram hall. A young man in white dhoti and a white shawl stands at the right holding a small object, facing a seated group of devotees. Several women in colourful saris sit on a blue mat in front, and a row of black stone statues of seated saints lines the back wall, alongside gilded deity murtis of Rama and Krishna on a shelf. Brass puja vessels and offerings sit on a tray at the front, and a dark statue stands near the left edge. Only the standing man is clearly in white; no figure is clearly identifiable as a person from appearance.2011-09-10Photo 11742226A photograph inside a temple hall lined with rows of dark stone statues. In the foreground, a large black stone lingam sits on a bed of red and orange cloth. A man in white dhoti and shirt stands at right, leaning over the lingam with a vessel, apparently pouring liquid over it. Two women in colourful saris sit at left beside the lingam, one in pink and one in yellow, watching the ritual. This appears to be an abhishekam being performed on a shivalingam.2011-09-10A photograph inside a temple hall during a puja. A man in a white dhoti and white upper cloth stands at the right, holding a brass plate or lamp over a seated figure. In the left foreground, a devotee lies prostrate on a mat, face down, in a red garment. Behind them, a row of black stone deity murtis stands in niches along the wall. A white altar and small brass vessels with offerings and flowers are in the centre foreground. Several seated devotees in white and colourful clothes sit near the altar.2011-09-10A woman in a white sari with gold border stands at an orange-draped altar, bending forward to light an oil lamp (aarti) with fruit offerings on brass plates nearby. Behind her, a row of about a dozen black stone Siddha statues sit on dark pedestals in red and orange robes, each wearing marigold garlands, with a pale yellow wall behind them. This appears to be a Siddhas puja.2022-02-17July 17 20122012-07-17KAILASA TORONTO, CANADA on 2/17/20222022-02-17A woman in a white dress with an orange shawl stands with palms pressed together in namaskar before an altar draped in orange cloth. On the altar are brass plates, bowls, a small brass lamp and a red flower. Behind her, a row of black stone statues of seated sages, each wearing a garland of yellow and white flowers and orange-red cloth, sit on tiered black pedestals along a yellow-walled room. Small offering plates sit at the base of the statues. The scene suggests a puja honouring the Siddhas.2022-02-03A woman in a cream and gold-bordered sari stands with her back partly turned, holding a brass aarti lamp with a lit flame in her right hand while offering it before a row of black stone sage murtis seated on red-brown cloth-draped pedestals, each wearing marigold and yellow flower garlands and rudraksha-style beads. Her hair is in a high bun and she wears gold bangles and hoop earrings. Lit oil lamps and offerings sit on the maroon-covered platform, and a white and gold deity figure with a red crown and garland appears at the lower right.
