On a red-draped altar stands a tiered brass oil lamp with many lit wicks, beside a framed portrait of a saffron-robed man with long hair and a rudraksha mala, seated on a red cushioned throne with a leopard-print cloth. A man in white dhoti and shawl with gold border, bare-shouldered and shaved-headed, stands at right facing the altar. Two women in saris sit on the floor at left and centre, one in maroon, the other in white and gold, each with a microphone in front of them, and a silver plate of offerings rests before the throne. A seated figure in a central gold-and-red throne wears orange robes and a rudraksha-style necklace, hands folded in the lap; a person is seated on the peetha, though the face is not clearly distinguishable from this angle. Behind the throne hangs a dark backdrop with a red crescent motif, and a gold-framed platform to the right holds two standing deity murti with crowns. A woman in a red-and-orange sari sits at a microphone at the lower right, with a shaved-headed attendant seated beside her. Air coolers and fluorescent lights line the room.2012-10-04April 11 20122012-04-11A photograph of a devotional ritual in an indoor hall. At left, a seated figure in orange robes sits on a red cushioned throne with gold-trimmed carved wood. In the foreground, devotees in white clothes and yellow shawls hold lit oil lamps over a silver tray of offerings and flowers. A man in a white t-shirt with an ID lanyard stands at centre-left holding a lamp; a bald man in white dhoti and rudraksha-style beads holds a lamp in the middle; a woman with a long braid in a cream sari with red border sits in the foreground, and women in yellow shawls sit at right with hands folded. The scene suggests aarti performed before a seated teacher.2010-10-07April 12 20122012-04-12 +1 copiesJanuary 23 20142014-01-23Photo 11726432 +2 copiesPhoto 11691392
