A fire burns in a clay fire pit in the foreground, with a priest in white dhoti and shawl and a rudraksha mala seated beside it, stirring an offering with a long ladle from a metal bowl. Behind the fire stands a golden palanquin-style altar holding a deity murti garlanded with red and white flowers, flanked by tall brass oil lamps. Green banana leaves with offerings and flower-decorated trays are arranged on the floor. A man in white dhoti sits at the back right beside a drum, and another priest in white stands at the left edge. Nothing in the frame clearly identifies a person candidate.2020-03-15 +1 copiesMarch 15 20202020-03-15 +2 copiesSeptember 17 20152015-09-17Photo 11728744 +2 copiesPhoto 11728692 +2 copiesA photograph of a Vedic homa fire ritual inside a temple hall. A tall flame rises from a tiered wooden fire altar stacked with wooden logs and flower-decorated offerings, set on a green cloth. Several priests sit or stand around it: one bare-chested man in a white dhoti with a marigold garland, another in a white dhoti with a red-and-white cloth over his shoulder holding an offering bowl, and a third in a headband and garland seated at the fire with a brass vessel. Seated devotees in white watch from the back, and a row of musicians with microphones sits at the right. Behind are gilded shrines with deity murtis under pink and violet lighting, and brass oil lamps and kalashas stand on the floor.2016-07-02Photo 11728697 +2 copies
