Most women wear sarees and salwar-style dress in bright colours including green, teal, pink, red and yellow, while a few wear white. Brass and clay oil lamps sit on green leaves on the floor in front of them, with flowers and offerings visible. Several men in white and in pink and yellow shirts sit toward the back right of the hall near pillars, and wooden cabinets stand along the back wall.2024-10-10March 23 20112011-03-23March 23 20112011-03-23April 15 20112011-04-15April 05 20112011-04-05August 12 20122012-08-12September 09 20102010-09-09 +1 copiesNovember 12 20082008-11-12Photo 11687596 +1 copiesA photograph of a dimly lit room with a white marble floor where women in saris sit in two long rows along the sides, facing a central altar. Many brass oil lamps with lit wicks are set on brass plates along the floor in front of them. At the far end, a decorated altar holds a deity murti or framed image garlanded with flower strands, with additional lamps and offerings. A single child in white clothing sits near the altar. Some women hold small brass items. The setting suggests a group puja or lamp-lighting ritual indoors. A small framed portrait hangs on the back wall, and a metal figure stands at the right edge.2011-04-15A large hall with a polished white marble floor where many women and some men sit cross-legged in rows during a Vilaku Puja. Several women in saris of teal, blue, pink and green hold lit oil lamps or flame lamps up in their hands, while others have brass lamps and small clay lamps placed on green banana leaves in front of them. The leaves hold offerings and small brass vessels. On the left, a golden deity murti stands in a decorated shrine area with pink drapery, and a framed printed image is set nearby. Men in white shirts and dhotis sit at the back on the right, and a seated figure in an orange-and-white outfit appears near the rear wall.2024-07-10
