A large deity murti or sacred image is adorned with a bold garland of marigolds and flowers in red, purple, yellow and green, and a golden crown-like canopy hangs above. A trident stands at the centre. Several priests in saffron-orange dhotis, some bare-chested with gold-bordered wraps, attend the altar, while others in white dhotis with gold borders and white shirts stand nearby. Devotees in white and saffron clothing, including women in saffron saris, stand in a semicircle with hands folded. A video camera is visible at left. Attendants perform the abhishekam or puja at the altar.2013-03-10July 07 20092009-07-07January 05 20192019-01-05A photograph of a temple abhishekam in progress. In the foreground, a golden deity murti with a crown and a green garment is being bathed, with water poured from a golden pot held by a figure in a red-orange dhoti-style garment and a bare shoulder. Behind, several women and girls stand in a row: a woman in an orange sari with maroon border on the left, young women in white saris with gold borders, a girl in a white kurta with an orange scarf, and a woman in a white sari with gold border holding a garland. Yellow flowers lie on a gold-edged tray at the base of the murti, and water runs down its green garment onto the stone floor.2011-10-06A photograph of a ritual abhishekam at an outdoor water tank. A bare-chested man in an orange dhoti pours liquid from a vessel over a golden-yellow deity murti standing beneath an ornate gilded arch. A young boy in an orange cloth stands beside him, and a woman with long matted dreadlocks in an orange sari bends over metal pots at the left. Yellow liquid streams down over the murti and the stone platform. Behind them, red stone steps hold more orange-clad people and a white-clad figure seated among the steps.2017-05-22January 04 20192019-01-04July 07 20092009-07-07
