October 01 20172017-10-01A night procession photographed from the front. A golden palanquin-style float (ratha) is decorated with flower garlands, tassels in pink, yellow, green and purple, and a gold umbrella with red and gold fringe. Brass cymbals hang from the float's frame. Seated on the float is a woman in orange-red robes with a red bindi and a rudraksha mala, flanked by another woman in orange. A woman in an orange sari with a rudraksha mala and a long staff (trident-like rod) walks at the front beside the float. Flower-wrapped poles and string lights frame the scene, and a few men in white and red attend the procession at the edges. Visible people total roughly six to twenty, counting partially visible figures.2015-07-31July 31 20152015-07-31Night photograph of a decorated festival chariot (ratha) during a Rathotsavam procession. Behind the throne a blue-robed deity murti with a gold crown and flower garlands is seated under a canopy of colourful panels with blue, red and yellow motifs and fringed yellow valances. A bald man in orange clothing sits at the lower left, and a small red-and-gold kalasha-like ornament is nearby.
