A man in orange robes and a gold-edged orange shawl, wearing a beaded mala necklace, holds a lit oil lamp flame beside the column while a bald attendant in orange robes holds a silver plate. Palm fronds are tied to the base and a white cloth hangs from the top under a corrugated metal roof, with palm trees in the dark background.2010-11-12February 06 20142014-02-06Night photo of a tall, ornate copper deepam lamp-pillar on a raised stone platform, with a carved base and a white cloth wrapped around its shaft. Two men in saffron-orange robes stand beside it: one, with long hair, a red tilak and orange-beaded mala, holds a lit oil lamp aloft toward the pillar as part of an aarti; the other, bald and wearing an orange shawl with maroon-red edging, holds a silver tray. Palm fronds lean against the base, petals lie on the ground, and palm trees appear in the dark background. The scene looks like a lamp-lighting ritual.2010-11-12
