In the centre, a shaved-headed man in orange-brown dhoti and shawl, wearing rudraksha malas and bangles, sits cross-legged and raises a small brass lamp, while a brass bell and a small white shrine piece sit on a low table before him. Several younger participants around him hold lit oil lamps and offerings, and a yellow cloth and flower garland lie on the floor. The audience behind them is large and packed, and the scene is lit by warm hall lights.2017-01-08March 29 20172017-03-29A photograph of a seated ritual gathering in a large hall with warm lighting and a pink-brown wall. In the centre, a bald man sits cross-legged on a mat, wearing a rust-orange cloth over his shoulder, a dark rudraksha mala with a ceremonial gold pendant, and a reddish-brown dhoti with a yellow border. He holds a small oil lamp in one hand and a brass bell in the other, with a red tilak on his forehead. Around him, many people in saffron-orange robes sit in rows, several with rudraksha malas and white forehead markings. In front of them are brass plates, a small flower-and-fruit offering, and a bottle. The setting suggests a puja or satsang session with several dozen participants.2017-01-08
