Close-up photo of hands in a ritual exchange. A devotee's hand holds a yellow turmeric-dyed coconut or kalasha-like object wrapped in yellow fibre, while another hand reaches to receive or steady it. The wrist of the receiving person bears a heavy gold bangle and a rudraksha mala, and a yellow thread is tied around the wrist. Beside them, a person in an orange-brown garment wears a long gold-beaded necklace with a pendant and a rudraksha bracelet, with white sacred ash markings on the forearm. Blurred flowers in yellow, purple and red fill the background.2013-12-25Close-up of a ritual exchange during a temple ceremony. A priest on the left wears white dhoti-style cloth, a long garland of white jasmine and red and yellow flowers, and gold ornaments, and holds a silver spouted vessel in one hand. Behind them, a green draped cloth, a gold-trimmed ornament and another person in a red and gold silk sari with gold jewellery are visible. A priest in white dhoti and a white turban with a flower garland holds a silver pouring vessel high above, while another man with bare arms and white markings on his shoulders reaches toward a bundle wrapped in yellow cloth. Next to him, a figure in a white garment with a gold bangle and a yellow-banded wrist holds the cloth over a large gilded ornamental base with gold figures. The arrangement suggests an abhishekam or puja offering, with a gold-and-yellow decorated seat in the foreground. Two priests and one more participant are visible, with a fourth person partly at the edge of the frame.2013-05-12September 27 20172017-09-27October 22 20152015-10-22 +2 copies
