Five or so workers in light shirts, lungis and head cloths dig a trench in reddish soil. One worker in a white dhoti and red head cloth stands on a pile of earth, and another bends low near the ground. White PVC pipes with fittings lie along the trench beside the wall, and loose bricks, blue pipes and stacked materials are scattered around. Green trees stand in the background.2007-03-29A construction site on red-brown earth with workers laying grey concrete blocks in a trench for a building foundation. Several labourers bend over the trench: one in a green top and white shorts places blocks, a man in a red shirt and white cap stands at center, and two women in saris (one blue, one red) work on the excavated sides. Stacks of blocks, piles of rubble and sand, and scattered trees and a palm line the background under a pale sky.A photograph of an outdoor construction site with excavated trenches and dug earth. Two workers stand inside a deep trench, one in a grey shirt holding a red-handled tool, with another worker standing above and a third figure in the background. Piles of reddish-brown soil surround the trench, along with grey concrete blocks and coiled red and orange cord or rope. A taut yellow string line runs across the trench. Behind the site is a long, low building with a corrugated roof, white block walls, and ventilation grilles, with palm trees and a small tree in front of it. No a person candidate is visible.2007-03-29A photograph of an outdoor construction site where a long trench has been dug through reddish-brown earth. A white PVC pipe lies along the bottom of the trench, and a taut yellow string line runs alongside it. A worker in a white head cloth and white clothes in the lower left carries a large orange basin on his head and walks beside the trench. A man in a checked shirt and dark cap stands near the center holding a tool. Behind them, two men in white shirts and dhotis stand near the far end of the trench, and a worker in a dark top and head wrap stands near a grey stone wall at the top. Dark-green foliage and a pale stone wall appear in the background.2007-03-29Construction site with a trench being dug and lined with grey concrete blocks along the foundation. Several workers are visible: a man in a white shirt and cap walking on the left, a woman in a blue saree and red blouse crouching at the trench, a woman in a red saree standing on the right edge, and a woman in a patterned saree kneeling beside piles of rough grey stones. Stacks of concrete blocks sit on the far right and left, with red earth, a sand heap and trees in the background. No a person candidate is present; the setting is a building foundation work site in Tiruvannamalai.A photograph of an excavation site beside a white building with a green corrugated roof and potted plants on a veranda. Two trenches dug into reddish-brown earth run across the foreground, with stacked concrete blocks and scattered stones at their edges. Several workers are visible: one standing in an orange shirt near the building, another bending over in the trench area, and a figure in red further back. A stone retaining wall and palm trees appear at the right.2009-10-15A photograph of a construction site beside large white tent structures. Three workers dig in brown earth with spades and hoes, one in a patterned shirt and checked lungi standing at the left, one in a light blue shirt bending low, and one in a grey shirt and dark trousers swinging a tool at right. Freshly dug mounds of soil surround white PVC pipes and yellow concrete rings lie on the ground. Behind them a man in a white shirt stands near a yellow excavator, and a red-roofed building, a water tower and trees appear in the background.2016-11-24Photo 11698213A construction site photograph showing the base of a grey concrete block wall. Grey metal pipes run horizontally along the wall and vertically down beside it, joined to a white PVC drainage pipe with an elbow fitting near the ground. The pipes are set into a freshly dug trench of pale brown sandy soil, with scattered stones and a white plastic bag tucked near the pipe base. Bare sandy ground and a dirt track stretch into the background under bright daylight. No people are visible.2007-03-22Outdoor construction site with raw red-brown earth, a grassy embankment and scattered rubble. Three men work on newly laid grey stone steps. On the left, a man in a white shirt, white trousers and a white turban crouches and carries a bucket. In the centre, a man in a blue shirt and checked lungi stands and watches. On the right, a man in a white shirt and checked lungi bends over the steps. A blue tarpaulin lies on the stairs and a grey pipe rests on the upper ground. Stacked grey paving stones line the steps.2008-10-26
