March 27 20162016-03-27May 22 20152015-05-22A bare-chested man stands before a gilded arch and red drapes, holding up a gold ceremonial necklace with both hands. He wears a green and gold jeweled headpiece with white garlands, a rudraksha mala and a white flower garland over a floral-patterned saffron-and-cream shawl. Behind him, two deity murtis are dressed with rows of yellow, red and white flower garlands and gold ornaments. The scene suggests a ritual or ceremonial offering in a temple-like setting.2016-03-27 +1 copiesMay 22 20152015-05-22May 22 20152015-05-22February 19 20162016-02-19Photo 11734653A photograph of a temple ritual inside an ornate shrine hall. A bare-chested priest in a green sash and white dhoti stands at left, holding a lit lamp or camphor flame toward the deities. Two seated men sit on a red-cushioned bench in front of a richly decorated throne: the man in the middle wears a green and gold turban and white dhoti with a white garland, and the man at right wears a tall gold-and-white headdress, white dhoti with blue border, a golden shawl and a white garland. Behind them, a central deity murti is dressed in a red and gold garment, draped with yellow and white marigold garlands. Brass lamps, a multicoloured canopy with tassels, golden ornamental arches and a jewelled silver-and-gem ornament at right complete the scene. The figure in the central throne area wears a crown with a tall head ornament and adornments; the identity of the seated men is not established by visible cues.2016-03-27March 27 20162016-03-27May 22 20152015-05-22A photograph of a ritual worship scene before a golden deity murti pair with a golden crown and ornate jewelled necklaces, and a consort figure in a dark embroidered headdress with white jasmine garlands. A man with a tied-back hair bun, bare-shouldered in saffron-orange cloth, stands at left, holding a small oil lamp flame and a bell over the figure, with a lotus-like flower nearby. Red and white flower garlands and a red curtain frame the altar beneath an ornate gold arch. The figure in saffron wears no crown, shawl or malas that clearly establish an identity, so no identification is made.2012-04-30 +2 copiesInterior temple ritual scene with a priest in a white dhoti and green sash holding a lit flame, facing a seated figure on a gold throne-like seat. Two seated devotees in white dhotis, one wearing a green and gold headpiece and one a saffron-and-white head cloth, sit on a low wooden bench on a striped rug, wearing garlands. Behind them stands an ornately jewelled deity murti draped in a red and gold cloth with garlands, with a golden canopy above and brass lamps nearby. A shirtless attendant in a dhoti stands at the left edge.2016-03-27
