January 22 20142014-01-22A procession of saffron-robed sannyasis walks along a narrow concrete path through dry scrub and bare trees under a hazy sky. In the centre, a figure in a deep maroon-red robe wears a thick orange-yellow marigold garland and walks barefoot, with a sannyasi in orange on each side. Several men in orange shawls and orange-gold dhotis carry tall white staffs or poles. Litter lies along the edge of the path and a low concrete kerb borders the right side. The scene looks like a walking procession or pilgrimage in a hilly area. Identity is not established from appearance: the figure in the centre shows only a garland and robe, so there is no distinctive cue for a person.2014-01-13July 06 20082008-07-06December 07 20072007-12-07A photograph of a narrow dirt footpath winding through dense green scrub and trees. Three figures walk single file in orange-saffron robes. The figure at the front, on the right, has long dark hair, a saffron garment and a dark rudraksha mala around the neck, and carries a long wooden staff. Two more robed figures in orange and reddish-brown follow behind on the path, one partly hidden by foliage. Sunlight filters through the leaves onto the sandy trail.2008-01-03March 05 20112011-03-05 +1 copiesMarch 05 20112011-03-05 +1 copiesOutdoor procession on a street beneath a large leafy tree, with a utility pole and a roadside shop at left. Several men in saffron and orange robes walk together. The man in front wears a tall headdress of flowers and white plumes, marked with a trident-topped staff, and holds a long pole. Behind him, others in orange hold a shawl, and two men at left wear yellow garments with white dhotis. At far right, a smiling man in a bright orange robe wears a dark rudraksha mala and a gold ceremonial necklace, with tripundra marks on his forehead. The setting suggests a temple procession, though no printed text is visible.2009-07-13A procession on a paved path lined with green shrubs and trees. Four saffron-robed men walk barefoot in a line. The man on the far left holds a tall gold trident, wearing a saffron garment with maroon borders and a beaded garland. In the centre, a long-haired man in an orange robe with a gold-edged hem wears a thick white and red flower garland, a layered rudraksha mala and a gold pendant, and his hands are clasped in front of him. To his right, a shaved-headed man in orange holds a gold staff with a carved top and wears a flower garland. On the far right, a young man in orange holds a small object at his chest and wears a white flower garland. The scene reads as a devotional procession during a temple celebration.2008-12-28July 07 20092009-07-07April 22 20042004-04-22Four people walk along a narrow paved mountain road lined with dense green foliage and broad-leafed vines on the left and trees behind. Three figures in saffron-orange robes walk together, one with long dark hair in a dark orange robe, another in an orange robe with a dark head covering, and a third with a short gray beard in orange clothing. In the centre a man in a white dhoti and white top with a black backpack and a walking stick walks on the road. A thin orange cord is strung overhead among the trees. Several people are visible, but a wide view of the scene limits detail.2008-07-06
