In the centre a bearded sadhu with long matted dreadlocks and a white-painted face raises his right hand toward the camera. Beside him a man with a shaved head wears a beaded necklace and rudraksha-style bead strands on his wrist, and a sadhu on the right has long matted hair tied up with a red cloth. Street lamps glow orange against the evening sky, and the surrounding pilgrims fill the frame.2013-02-10February 10 20132013-02-10May 09 20162016-05-09February 10 20132013-02-10February 15 20132013-02-15 +1 copiesPhoto 116856232013-02-10 +2 copiesFebruary 10 20132013-02-10Photograph at dusk of a large crowd of ascetic men at the Kumbh Mela, their bodies and faces smeared with white ash. Foreground men are bare-chested and wear rudraksha and bead malas, with long matted hair and beards on the right. Behind them, more sadhus stand among warm street lamps and an orange flag on the left. No individual here can be confidently matched to a person from appearance, so no identity is asserted.2013-02-10April 18 20162016-04-18
