Many men have grey-white ash covering their bodies and long matted hair or beards; a bearded sadhu in the centre wears orange-red rudraksha beads and a white necklace while raising his hands. A bare-skinned figure with long blonde hair stands at right, and several people in saffron and orange cloth stand further back. A photographer with a large camera lens is visible at the right edge, and a man's raised arm with bangles appears at the upper left. The crowd is far larger than the countable figures, so this is best counted as a large group.2013-02-10Night photograph of a huge crowd at a Kumbh Mela bathing area, lit by rows of orange street lamps under hazy orange sky. Many men are nearly unclothed and covered in white ash, walking barefoot across a mat-covered ground toward the water. Several long-haired sadhus wear orange and saffron cloths; one bearded elder on the left wears a white turban and orange shawl. A bare-bodied man in the centre wears a yellow marigold garland. a person's presence is not verifiable from appearance here, so no candidate is marked. Dozens of people are visible across the scene.2013-02-10Photograph at dusk of a large crowd of ascetic men at the Kumbh Mela, their bodies and faces smeared with white ash. Foreground men are bare-chested and wear rudraksha and bead malas, with long matted hair and beards on the right. Behind them, more sadhus stand among warm street lamps and an orange flag on the left. No individual here can be confidently matched to a person from appearance, so no identity is asserted.2013-02-10May 21 20162016-05-21Night photograph of a dense crowd of pilgrims bathing in the Ganga at the Kumbh Mela, with many people waist-deep in the river and along the stone ghat steps. Many men are bare-chested wearing orange or saffron dhotis and some hold orange cloths. Bamboo poles and a wooden boat stand at the left edge, a man in a white cap and orange life vest stands on the boat, and a saffron flag flies at right. Glowing lamps and orange-lit sky frame the scene, with marigold garlands floating on the water. A man in a black leather jacket and white trousers stands at the right near the steps. a person's presence is not clearly identifiable from appearance.2013-02-10February 10 20132013-02-10
