The bricks have white and red markings on them. Sunlit ground surrounds the hearth, and another pot is partly visible at the top of the frame. No people are visible in this close view of the cooking hearth.2022-01-15January 14 20172017-01-14January 14 20172017-01-14December 31 20092009-12-31A Pongal cooking ritual photographed outdoors. A black clay pot of boiling rice sits on a stove built from three stacked orange-brown bricks over glowing embers, with milk or rice starch streaming down its sides and steam rising. Two long green sugarcane stalks stand upright on either side of the pot, and a white cloth covers the pot's rim. At left, a person in white dhoti-style clothing with a gold border kneels and uses a flat wooden stick to tend the fire, while at right an orange-robed figure stands beside the stove. Ash and scattered straw lie on the ground.2016-01-15A photograph of a terracotta clay pot placed on a brick stove over a wood fire, decorated with a garland of red, orange and white flowers around its rim and white painted stripes with small red dots on its sides. The fire burns beneath the pot among split firewood, with a pink flower and a stick laid on the ground. Blurred figures in the top corners appear to be people in traditional dress wearing flower garlands.2022-01-15
