He feeds the flames with an offering from a brass bowl while a bright fire burns in the brick-lined pit, decorated with yellow flowers and red petals. Standing people in white and red clothing stand behind him, and a brass vessel and oil lamp sit near the front edge.January 15 20122012-01-15January 28 20152015-01-28Photo 11744428 +1 copiesJune 23 20132013-06-23October 16 20102010-10-16 +1 copiesA photograph of a homa fire ritual. A figure in saffron-orange robes sits behind a rectangular brick fire pit with a tall flame rising from it, hands raised in prayer near the face. Pink and red flower petals and green leaves decorate the stone-edged pit, and brass vessels and a small offering dish sit to the right. The figure's orange robes and beaded necklace are visible, but the face is not clearly shown, so identity is uncertain.2007-09-17Photo 11740855A large fire blazes from a square brick-and-white-plastered homa pit at dusk. A priest in white clothing, with a bangle on the wrist, reaches in with a long-handled metal ladle held over a copper or brass bowl containing offerings. Behind the pit, several seated men in white dhotis and shirts play drums, and a woman in a gold-bordered sari stands at the right edge. Brass vessels, a red cloth and fruit lie on the ground near the fire. Scattered figures stand in the background. The scene shows a homa ritual in an outdoor courtyard.2011-12-31May 03 20122012-05-03November 10 20112011-11-10
