October 20 20062006-10-20January 01 20132013-01-01Night procession on a street with a white van or truck in the left foreground, headlights glowing. Behind it, a decorated ornate palanquin with a white and silver embroidered canopy carries a seated figure wearing an orange and saffron cloth, a tall orange turban-style headpiece, a gold beaded necklace, and holding a staff. Several people in saffron and orange robes walk beside the palanquin, including a child in white. Devotees in white garments crowd the right side of the street. A second illuminated decorated float with white and gold ornaments glows in the background.2015-11-21Night procession photographed from ground level. Centre, a decorated palanquin or ratha with a canopy of multicoloured fringe, strung with purple and white flowers and a green-and-yellow tassel, carries a seated figure draped in heavy gold-coloured garlands and ornate clothing. A tall trident stands beside the seat, and an attendant in white with a white cap stands on the vehicle. Fairy-light arches of warm bulbs frame the float, and strings of green and multicoloured lights glow in the background. Dense crowd members in white dhotis, a red shawl and dark clothes surround the vehicle, many in the foreground partly cropped. No clear appearance-based cues allow confident identification of the seated figure, so the person is described by role only as a seated honoured figure on a procession vehicle.2015-01-13Dusk procession at night with a gilded, ornately carved ratha, a chariot-style vehicle decorated with white and orange garlands and red lights. A large framed portrait of a smiling man with long dark hair, wearing a garland, is mounted at the top of the ratha; the portrait is a depiction, not a physical person. A small golden ornamental deity figure stands on the side. Behind the ratha, devotees in white and yellow clothes walk along a dirt road, and a man in a white dhoti and orange shawl holds a yellow placard. Palm trees line the roadside.2009-02-16February 16 20092009-02-16March 02 20132013-03-02Night procession on a city street with a richly decorated palanquin-style float at centre, draped in marigold and orange garlands, with gold ornaments, tassels and a turquoise canopy. Seated on the float is a figure wearing a tall crown and red-and-white garlands, with a golden throne-like seat. A bald man in saffron-orange robes stands at the front holding a long ornate silver staff. Around the float, people in white and orange clothes walk alongside vehicles, a white van, a black loudspeaker and a pink cart with silver tinsel. Overhead are power lines and a dim orange night sky.2013-02-12Night procession photographed from behind a crowd of onlookers. A decorated chariot, lit by string lights and a street lamp, carries a deity murti seated under a striped canopy, with garlands of purple and pink flowers and gold ornaments on the vehicle. Many people stand in dark silhouette in the foreground, some in white clothes. No individual can be identified as a person from appearance in this frame.2015-02-17 +1 copiesOctober 09 20062006-10-09November 21 20152015-11-21January 13 20152015-01-13
