A photograph of a homa or fire ritual at a stone altar. Smoke rises from the rough stone surface, which is decorated with yellow and white flowers and red petals. Two priests sit cross-legged in white dhotis; the left priest, bare-chested with gold beaded necklaces and a striped cloth at his waist, pours grain from a ladle into a brass bowl. Beside him a second brass bowl holds more grain. A third seated priest in an orange-yellow shawl, with rudraksha beads and gold necklaces, sits with hands folded near the altar. A fourth man sits at the right edge in a yellow cloth. Their bodies bear white sacred marks. The a person field is none because no candidate is visibly present.2018-01-31December 28 20112011-12-28A homa fire ritual in progress on a sunlit outdoor terrace. A shaved-headed priest in white dhoti and shawl with gold borders and a beaded garland kneels before a square brick fire pit with flames rising, pouring offering from a silver ladle-like vessel. Another person in white holds a large silver bowl of grains at left, and silver bowls and a plate with offerings sit nearby. Behind the fire, decorated kalasha pots with mango-leaf tops and turmeric-marked coconuts stand on a bed of rice. A microphone stands at the fire pit and orange fabric hangs overhead.2011-12-28Close-up photo of a ritual abhishekam in progress. A hand holding a silver kalasha with a green mango-leaf or grass sprig dips into or pours from the pot, while a second hand supports the base. The pot rests on a cream silk cloth edged with gold and studded with blue and red stones and white beads. In the foreground, a bare arm bears white vibhuti striping and a strand of rudraksha beads. To the right, a person wears an orange-red saffron cloth. The background shows a blurred golden ornamental backdrop.2018-06-04 +1 copiesMarch 22 20132013-03-22A bare-chested man with a shaved head kneels on an orange cloth before a shrine decorated with pink and white flower garlands and brass lamps. He wears a red-beaded necklace, a gold chain, an orange dhoti with gold border and a gold armband, and has white sacred ash on his forehead and arms. With one hand he sprinkles or offers from a silver vessel onto a tray of flowers and fruit. A metal kalasha and oil lamps sit on a marble platform, and a deity murti is visible in the background. Pale sandalwood or vibhuti marks show on the forearm. Dry grass stalks and a pink flower lie at the lower right over a colourful striped cloth, with golden vessels softly blurred behind. The pouring suggests a puja or abhishekam offering, but no deity or a person is clearly visible, so the appearance is only partly visible.2018-03-12January 06 20182018-01-06May 12 20122012-05-12July 18 20132013-07-18Close-up photo of a ritual water offering. A metal cup pours water over a pair of hands holding a bundle of darbha grass, over a polished silver bowl containing flower petals and small offerings. A person in orange saffron robes sits on the left, and a person in maroon garments with a gold border on the right, with a wrist mala and gold ornaments visible.
