A crowd gathers outdoors under a canopy hung with orange and green pennant bunting and leafy mango-style garlands. In the centre, a figure in an orange robe with a white and red flower garland around the neck faces away from the camera, holding a red gift parcel with gold trim and a framed portrait labelled in Tamil. Around them, people in white dhotis and shirts, some with folded hands, press close; a man in an orange shirt stands to the left and a man in a white shirt with a lanyard stands at right beside a white wall.
