A homa fire burns on a stepped altar of red-orange brick at night. Bright orange flames rise from a small fire pit on top, with wood pieces burning and smoke drifting upward. Brass or steel vessels, a ladle and dried straw bundles sit in the foreground. Behind the altar stands a tall ritual frame with stacked brass disc-shaped ornaments and a copper-toned vessel, with a red cloth visible at left. No people are visible in the frame; the darkened background suggests an evening ritual setting.2017-12-20A photograph of a homa fire pit built from stacked terracotta-red bricks, with a bright flame and smoke rising from wood pieces laid on top. A dusting of white ash or powder covers the brick surface. Bundles of dried straw or grass lie at the lower left, a small metal ladle and a bronze cup sit at the base, and tiered brass or copper ceremonial objects stand blurred in the background against a dark night setting. No people are visible.2017-12-20December 20 20172017-12-20Close view of a brick-lined sacred fire pit (homa kunda) with a bright orange flame burning low at its left edge. Behind it on a white ledge sit a small brass bell, a brass dish holding red kumkum or offering, and a gold-coloured ceremonial vessel on a stand.
