A shaved-headed priest in white dhoti and shawl with gold trim, wearing a large gold-beaded necklace, holds a brass plate of offerings and flowers while bending to give a blessing to seated devotees. Two couples in white and colourful saris or shirts sit with white jasmine garlands and red-and-white flower garlands, hands extended to receive the offering. A red throne with gold arch stands behind them under a world map reading Padhoga mandirs in 23 countries. Several onlookers and children sit along the wall, a person in purple sits near the throne, and an orange-robed monk sits at right. This is a pada-puja ritual.2011-12-14December 23 20102010-12-23December 14 20112011-12-14A photograph of a traditional South Indian wedding ceremony seated on the floor. A bride in an orange and gold sari with a gold necklace, jhumka earrings and a maang tikka sits beside a groom in a white dhoti and shirt, both wearing pink, white and green flower garlands. A priest in a white dhoti with a patterned shawl and a topknot ties a yellow thread between the couple's wrists. A brass oil lamp with a lit flame stands at left, and brass kalasha pots and marigold and rose floral offerings sit in front. Two women in silk saris stand in the background. Another man in white with a lanyard and a rudraksha-style mala sits at left, and a person in yellow robes sits on a red chair at top. Marigold petals lie on the orange mat, and a brass vessel with yellow flowers and a red cloth pouch sits at lower right. The man in white is not visibly identifiable as a person from appearance cues, so no candidate is asserted.2010-12-23Photograph of a couple seated on the floor in a ritual setting. A woman in a red and green silk sari with a white blouse and a red bindi sits at left, her hand clasped with a bald man in white dhoti and shawl at right, both wearing white jasmine and red-and-yellow marigold garlands. Behind them, a figure in a yellow robe with a gold chain sits on a red and gold throne, appearance-based candidate for a person, seated in the background as a presiding figure. A brass plate of yellow flowers and a metal bowl sit in the foreground beside an orange cloth. The warm red walls complete the scene.2010-12-23A wedding ceremony photographed indoors with a pale pink wall and columns behind. On the left, a bare-chested priest in a white dhoti with a gold-and-green border holds a silver tray of marigold-like flowers. A man in an orange-brown robe and a large orange turban raises his arm, wearing a long red-and-white garland. Beside him, a bald, smiling man in a saffron-brown robe with a rudraksha mala stands near a silver tray of turmeric-yellow offerings. Women in a purple sari, a green silk sari and a red-and-gold sari stand or kneel, one holding a yellow flower bouquet. A seated bride in a red-and-gold sari with a white floral garland and gold jewellery receives turmeric or kumkum from a woman in green, while a man in white kneels at right, wearing garlands. Several people are visible, the nearby figures partly cropped.2013-09-16A wedding ceremony photographed indoors.
